Iran is a funny one. The epicentre of the outbreak is Qom. That's like the Vatican of the Shia. Almost all the old Mullahs live there. 8% of their members of parliament are infected. Some prominent people already dead including Iran's first ambassador to the Vatican, Hadi Khosroshahi and Member of Expediency Discernment Council Mohammad Mirmohammadi.

Masoumeh Ebtekar, also known as "Mary", the spokeswoman of the “students” who took hostages in the US Embassy in 1979, currently Vice President of Iran for Women and Family Affairs is also down with COVID-19.

Whelp, it's in my state now. About an hour away from me.

At this point even if the news says your state doesn't have it, they're lying. Every state has it, they just aren't testing for it. I've got hand wipes in the car, stopped at the grocery store this morning for water and cat litter, wiped my hands/steering wheel/shifter before I even started the car.

It's not an hour away, it's just down the street... You just don't know it.

I'm sure. I work in a college town with international students, including some fleeing the infected areas of Europe. You might get Bat AIDS just by reading this post.

The death toll in Italy has passed 230, with officials reporting more than 50 deaths in 24 hours. The number of confirmed cases jumped by more than 1,200 to 5,883 on Saturday.

...just like the seasonal flu... Nothing to be worried about.

Everyone should be booking a vacation to Italy for next week, a Princess cruise ship is a great way to get there, and I hear they might be offering steep discounts on cruises!!

Italy has the second oldest demographics in the world. Interestingly, Germany has the third oldest population, but there's a cultural difference between Italy and (most of) Germany: It's common in Italy for a family's elders to live in the same house as the rest of the family. This is naturally going to increase the risk of spreading the disease from the younger members of the family, who may carry the virus without ever getting any symptoms, to the family's elderly members.
