You should acknowledge that none of us know if this is going to infect up to 70% of the planet, as many virologists are now claiming is possible. The only thing that matters in risk analysis here is the outcome of your strategy. Strategy A: do jackshit like a peasant who has no agency or responsibility for his existence. Strategy B: prepare a little bit for supply disruptions and the possibility that we will be quarantined in our homes like every country who now has an outbreak on their hands (which, indeed, is now the strategy the CDC is telling you to take).

If the pandemic does not happen at the predicted potential, then StratA Guy spent nothing and can talk shit about how clever he is online; StratB guy can be thankful we stopped the threat and use his surplus food and supplies over the next few months. Pretty much a toss up there. If the pandemic DOES happen at the predicted potential.. StratA guy survives. StratB guy either dies or lands in a FEMA camp.

Which strategy makes more sense to you?

Seeing as how the Spanish Flu after WW1 infected only 27% of the planet, and this one is not remotely that infectious and certainly not that lethal (with a death rate marginally higher than regular flu) I think it is a safe bet that 70% is a made up number. In fact it totally is.

I am very clever (I scored over 1000 points on my SAT), and I do talk shit online. I have survived multiple hurricanes, something you know little about. You left, and they have gotten worse than when you lived here. Something can be bad, but you still don't need to prepare for it at all. I think I can survive this no problem without rice.

If you think the globalist system cannot survive, and everything is contaminated, then how can you be sure that the supplies you have stocked up on are safe? Riddle me that. You could already have Corona. We don't know. All we can say for sure is that I don't have it because I do not have a bunch of potentially tainted supplies and therefore have not been exposed to it.

Given the ridiculously long incubation period, we could very well all have it already. That’s been bothering me when thinking about the time to pull the trigger on our bug-in. There’s no way to know, really.

It’s going to be all about watching for societal impact, rather than infection. This bug is impossible to avoid.

Dude, throw out all your supplies. They are tainted. You might be tainted. I am taking a great risk even talking to you.

The key is to realize that in order to beat a virus, you have to think like one. Figure out where this Virus would be and how it would act, and you are homefree.

I think this virus would probably go to public places like bus stations or grocery stores, so if I were trying to outsmart it, that's where I'd go. It would never suspect you going to a place where many infected are, and would not think to look for you there. The virus can put people in the hospital. Again, think like a virus. If you do get infected, you'd need to go to the hospital for it to finish you off. So if you are sick with Corona, don't go to the hospital. Instead, go to the grocery store or a public place. Are you starting to catch on?

I have food and water enough for a month, maybe two if I double my water and get more canned food. But I ran out of place to store shit. I also got a gallon of vodka, extra salt and flu meds. I need an emergency carton of cigs for storing too. I'm not going back to the Superdome to be surrounded by niggers and have the national guard keeping me penned in with them. Never again. I'm not bothering with personal protection equipment either. I'm going to rely on my immune system to get me through as it's usually pretty good.
I'm less concerned about the coronavirus hitting here than I am about the supply factors... Even after Hurricane Sandy, which was IMHO fairly minor in terms of "disaster scenario", people didn't have power for up to a couple weeks, gas stations can't pump without power and can't be resupplied with blocked roads etc.

China supplies us with a lot of stuff, and the last container ships are probably docking now, it could be a month or two before they get back to working & shipping stuff. When people start seeing empty shelves and maybe we start getting news of more coronavirus cases, they'll panic. I don't want to be one of the people fighting over the last bag of rice or the last can of soup at the grocery store.

Good idea to have some food stored away for some kind of emergency, be it a hurricane or an earthquake if you're on the left coast, or a virus outbreak, or anything else that could potentially cause near term supply disruption. Not saying anyone needs a 10 year supply of freeze dried foods and a 8000 gallon cistern of fresh water, but its pretty prudent to keep a couple weeks worth of food on hand "just in case".

Nuke he's trying to trick you. PH64 bought way over his head and now he is broke from buying up all the supplies. He needs to find someone to unload his ramen warehouse merch on and you are the sucker. Be smart Nuke, and don't prepare, not a single cheetoh or drop of water. You got this brother. Don't let PH sabotage your progress.

It's all about supply chains.

Here's the thing, lets say I have a hankering for peas with dinner tonight - I go to the store and buy canned or frozen (I'd buy frozen because I don't like canned peas, they're mush)...

Well, the peas themselves might actually have been grown here in the US. But where did the tinned steel for that can come from? Maybe...

Image

What if it comes from China, and they're not shipping anything right now? Or maybe frozen it's plastic bags... What if they're made in China too and just shipped over here in big rolls to be filled with peas and sealed?

We have a good paper industry so maybe the box for your crackers or Wheaties is made here... But what about those plastic inner liner bags?

The trouble with a globalized supply chain is things can come from anywhere, and if you rely on one bit - say that inner plastic cereal bag for your Wheaties, and it comes from a country that's shut down from a endemic virus outbreak, then what?

And when you've built your entire chain around "just in time", even a two month lapse can spell big trouble.

...and sorry dude, but I'm not broke by a long shot, and I'm not selling anything.

Definitely just a bizarre natural thing. Most certainly not a bioweapon released by a pack of idiots.

I went shopping today and did some stocking up for us. No hoarding or going total apocalypse prepper, just getting ahead of the curve with things that we will consume at some point before they go bad regardless of what the situation ends up being. There really is no downside to it other than spending a bit money up front by buying today for what could last a month.

If things start to go south wee can always go shopping again and stock up on the more perishable items like bread, fruit, and vegetables. If other items like medicine, vitamins, and canned food are gone, we already have enough to get by for at least a month.

The peace of mind alone is worth it. We're not wasting anything either. All things I bought today will be used before they go bad no matter what. Whether it be needed due to quarantine, supply chain shortages or both at least we are prepared.

One thing I noticed in the stores. Masks are the first thing to disappear. They were all gone at the store today. Rubber gloves were low. Vitamins were about half empty. Some of this, like the vitamins are probably due to it being cold and flu season, but if they are not fully stocked now and a shortage hits due to supply shortages, then a virus scare will wipe the stores out quick. Buy now and you can be set for the year.
