In fact when we arrived at Fort George we were in civvies and we went down the wrong way into the Fort, we didn't know where the front door was, and this set off an alarm and a whole Section came out with L85's at the ready. No BFA's, live rounds.

Anyway, I ended up watching the whole film. It's alarming how quickly that even a liberal country like Canada can turn into a police state.
However, if a copper had been shot here you can be sure there wouldn't have been a 78 day standoff. Mind you, the chances of anyone having AK47s would be very slim.
Interesting though, it's not a story that is well known here.
When I worked with the British Army they had live rounds for the guards at the base, Fort George and Edinburgh Castle

At Fort George there was a guard post with guys watching the cameras and then in an adjacent room there was a fully armed squad with ammo, in their body armor and equipment standing by, watching porno on a vcr

At Edinburgh Castle they actually had counter snipers watching the crowd

Canada is a police state because it is a racist apartheid state, what can be done to the Indians can be done to all
Well these were only training camps and they may have had live rounds in the guard houses. The guys out front on the gates didn't though. I always thought it was a bit slack considering what a good terrorist target the camps would have made.
I found a live round on the ground near the bins once and the officer I handed it in to was really pissed off about the paperwork he was going to have to do.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

No paperwork has to be done, there's a thing called the Amnesty Box, where if you forget to turn in rounds you can drop it in this locked box, no questions asked.

He was not happy though. I told him that I wasn't going to tell anyone so he probably didn't report it.
He gave the impression that it was quite serious as every round had to be accounted for.
Don't forget I was a civvy so had no right to be in possession of a live round.

Every round has to be accounted for, but whoever signed for that round is the one who is in trouble

If I didn't sign for that round, I'll just toss it in the Amnesty Box, and that is how it will be accounted for

I guess there was no way of knowing who was responsible for it. I imagine the men got balled out for letting the chef find it though.

Depends what it was issued for, if it was issued to be fired, then it could be explained as having been expended downrange, if ammo is issued for guard duty or something like that, then they count the rounds out and count them back in again, so if you're short, you're in big trouble

They'd just come back being out in the field for a few days and I think someone dropped it when they were throwing their rubbish away.

Mohicans are a different tribe from the Mohawks

Mohawks are Iroquois, Mohicans are Algonquin
