They remind me of the Washington Capitals when they first drafted Ovechkin and Backstrom
They have the franchise stars, but they don't have the supporting cast to surround them
Took Washington 13 years to get it right, this is year 4 for the Leafs

At least Matthews picks up a goal in the Rocket Richard race
This team is not winning the cup, Matthews winning the scoring title is the only prize they can win this year

Leafs have 25 shots to 15 but Pens have scored 5 out of those 15.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Luckily for the Loafs, Florida has been sputtering as well, so they haven't blown by the Loafs
It's not that they can't make the playoffs
They're just not going to get through Tampa, Boston, Washington/Pittsburgh to get to play for the Cup.
Therefore do not go all in and trade assets to pad this line up
Although if they did go spiraling down, that could force Dubas to trade Barrie for a 1st round pick

Bear in mind, the trade for Campbell was a good one
They didn't give much up for him, and he's under contract for two more years at a reasonable $1.65 million AAV
So that was a hockey trade, they needed to replace C-Mac, mission accomplished.
But unless it's Josh Manson, don't bother trading for a defenseman just to have another defenseman

lolRecap: Toronto Maple Leafs aren’t half as sick as we all are of them
The Leafs were so bad against the Penguins again that Kyle Dubas called Babcock to fire him again

Dubstep doubles down on small.
Trades Mason Marchment to Florida for Denis Malgin
No term on the contract, so it's just a rental, maybe he's just trying to change up the vibe in the room

Leafs 2019 53rd overall 2nd round pick Nick Robertson continuing to light it up in the OHL
14 game goal scoring streak, leading the OHL with 46 goals in 40 games
That's DeBrincat pace
He's got every different type of shot, wicked release, one highlight reel goal after the next
He's dominating the O, he's on pace to surpass DeBrincat actually, DeBrincat had 65 in 63 games
