Given that this disease spreads so quickly (it has an unbelievable r0 value of over 4.0), early detection is critical. But for many Americans, the cost of showing up at an emergency room starts around several hundred dollars and can easily exceed a thousand. Because we have this insane for-profit health care system, people who need to present to doctors in order to contain this fucking thing are quite a lot less likely to do so because they can't afford health care.
Solution is to break up the monoploies and looking to use usuary laws - healthcare can’t be an unregulated ed market bc demand is inelastic for most items/services.
The part where you place a cost upfront for poor people to get treatment still escapes you..
I’m not against that - certainly the cost of scans is known beforehand - again - usuary.
I’m a cunt, so no doubt this is going to bite me on the arse, but I’ve always wanted to watch the world die.
Mother Nature doing what she does best- killing the cancer that is our species.
And the best bit is that if I survive I get to join the dark man in Los Vegas
I can't lie either. I have been wargaming this scenario out for most of my adult life. I am ready. It's just a big challenge to me. My concern is for people I care about.
As of today, I think I can comfortably lock down inside my condo for 60 days, with two people, but I dunno.
The 20 lbs bags of rice are still on the shelves at Wallyworld for less than $9..

The way we pay for health care is fucking stupid and if this comes to America, you are going to find out real fast just why.
"People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome."
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.
People are wasting their time with the theorizing and blaming. There is fuck all you can do about that stuff and it doesn't matter. Be rational and start doing things you actually have control over.
I am not saying these things are not interesting. People just need to calm the fuck down and start doing small things they actually can do rather than just yapping.
Telling everybody to stock up is stupid too, because there is not enough supply to save every American. Just let Darwin solve the distribution problem.
Some of the sources telling people to prepare mention stocking up on potable water. Is this a typical prepper things to do? Unless the water to your home gets shut off, you already have a source of water that is safe to drink. Does it make a difference if you are on a well system vs. city water?

It's a standard thing, but you can't store enough water for 60 days, realistically. You need a way of filtering and treating water you collect outside.
I will fill my bathtub water bladder just in case, and maybe buy some big jugs of water as well, but I am not particularly concerned a pandemic causes the water and electricity to shut off.
This isn't the black death, it's more like the Spanish Flu. You just want to minimize your risk of exposure by making it so that you don't have to go anywhere and you have supplies to disinfect often.

Real talk, though, long term survival is tricky if it is really bad, because we won't have vaccines for a year or so. You basically want to survive the initial die off and then work something out with the survivors to minimize the spread and isolate the newly infected. I don't think it's that bad, but just saying. Worst case pandemic is like that.
To survive long term, you need a remote homestead where you just don't give a fuck about everybody else and produce everything you need on your compound.
Hash could pull his sons in and convert all that lawn into a farm, for instance. If you are in that situation, start buying up heirloom seeds and fertilizer. Plant your crops in March and set up your perimeter.
