5-20% of the US population gets the flu every year. If that happens with coronavirus, you are looking at between 300,000 and 1,234,000 American fatalities. I'd say it could be quite a lot worse than the flu because of that long infectious incubation period.
I think your estimation is tainted abit by the lower quality of Chinese healthcare, causing you to overestimate the threat posed by this virus on American lives. That the coronavirus in China has led to a lot of fatalities (there doesn't appear to be numbers for how many recover from the disease yet), is not indicative that the disease will lead to the same high mortality rate in Western countries. Not just because of the higher quality of healthcare, but also because most Western countries have a better sense of hygiene when it comes to food handling.

Once it gets to western countries the issue of food handling is moot.

Nah. Better medical services, facilities and health coverage in Western countries. The common flu is already more deadly than this. No reason to be more worried about another virus that can kill you, when so far the coronavirus has mostly killed of people with pre-existing conditions and senior citizens. They'd die from the common flu, as well.

I only said the food handling part was moot. It's showing up and spreading in western countries because of person-to-person transmission. This allegedly began at a food market due to contaminated food, but that isn't a factor anymore.

Disagree. There is no magical treatment that we have the Chinese do not have, and China's health care system is not that bad. The best anybody is going to do is to keep the patient hydrated and try to keep oxygen in their lungs if the pneumonia occurs. There are the HIV drugs combined with antivirals, but China has that shit.

If you look at the growth rate, if the PRC does not contain it, then it likely will break their system in a month or two, and we wouldn't fair much better.

If this gets out, while it's not the end of the world, it's going to take a lot of people's lives. Maybe on par with the Spanish Flu.

The best thing we have going for us right now is that the Chinese central government is going to do whatever it takes. They have cities completely locked down right now, and are deploying troops to keep people in there.

If God forbid the Chinese do not contain and eradicate it, and it gets to India, that's where you will see the real potential.

If anything, I'd argue this will spread faster in the West than it does in China. Also, by the time it gets here, it will be better adapted to humans as hosts anyway.

This thing is morbidly fascinating.
Authorities in China have warned that it can take as little as 15 seconds to be infected with the coronavirus.

The warning comes after a 56-year-old man from Ningbo in the eastern province of Zhejiang was caught on surveillance cameras visiting a vegetable market late last month.

At the time the man had no symptoms, and had not come in contact with any infected people or traveled outside of his region during the previous 14 days. But he was seen standing next to a woman in a market stall for 15 seconds before departing again without buying anything. The woman has since been shown to have had the virus at the time, according to Chinese state media. Neither was wearing a mask.

On Tuesday the man was diagnosed with coronavirus and quarantined.

Look, dudes, I don't know what to make of this, but I do know you cannot trust the globalist elite and their propaganda machine in the MSM. Maybe their minimization of the threat is legitimate and maybe not, but I would argue you cannot trust them regardless of anything else.

I mean.. as long as you leave instructions with Heath as to how to take over as the lord of this digital fiefdom, go to China. I am sure you can still get in there in a roundabout way. Go to Thailand first and then take a regional flight to Southern China.
