The way I see it, it really makes no damned sense whatsoever for Yankees to flock into the southern cities, colonize it, take over the local government, and then proceed to culturally exterminate southern culture there. It's actually really insane and I don't think the founder envisioned this shit at all.

What is going to happen to Europe is something similar, and I doubt many of you really grasp how this plays out yet.

The prolonged propaganda war waged against a conquered South for over a hundred years has done more to tear asunder any shared cultural fabric we may have had before the American Civil War. There will not be another American Civil War where the South attempts to reclaim its identity. The Southern identity now consists of awful, Xerox'd country music, college football, and Etsy-esque prints with the word "y'all" on it. The only chance for a Southern Renaissance would come in the case of devolution of the American superstate. At that point, regional cultures would have a better chance of thriving.

My advice to Southerners who want to remain Southerners in spirit would be to cling to your churches and encourage growth there. Culture will follow that. But that would require actually adhering to some sort of moral framework beyond trolling for co-eds on Saturdays in the Fall or gathering with your fellow malcontents in the back of a Wal-Mart parking lot.

Most people aren't smart enough to realize they're being programmed by society. I agree that everyone has a choice on what they do, but when it comes to whether a person does, they'll usually follow the path of least resistance. It's human nature. For Ol' Joe Sixpack, what is the better choice? Continue to try and preserve your culture, or accept society the way it is in exchange for an easier time? Most people will choose the easier time.

The loss of Southern culture lies squarely on the shoulders of Southerners. You'll get no argument from me, there. We've traded culture for 'progress'.

Last I checked most of us had lineage that goes back to the people who actually created this country. LOL

You'd be hard-pressed to find a Yankee who's ancestors weren't peasant migrants that came here almost in living memory. You are the replacements of the replacements of the original Puritan stock. First wave of replacements was the Civil War, to boost the workforce while the feds drafted everybody, and to pull half the young men off the docked ships and enlist them in the Army to win the war for Yankeeland.
