For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

A pathetic display all round, none of them were ready to play.
That being said, this defence is just too weak for a sustained playoff run.
Rielly, Barrie ; they are who we thought they were, one dimensional offensive defensemen who can't defend.
Dermott needs more seasoning, Ceci is worse than useless
Marincin and Holl are fine as bottom pairing depth, but not suitable for top four minutes
If Dubas doesn't orchestrate multiple trades to upgrade the defence, he's wasting the season.

Morgan Rielly out for at least two months with a fractured foot from blocking a shot last night.
Much as Rielly has been bad this year, this will further degrade an already weak defence.
Rasmus Sandin called up from the Marlies, but he can't fill the void.
With Muzzin already out with a broken foot as well, this makes Travis Dermott the top left defence
This may actually be a boon for Rielly since he's been nursing some other secret "lower body" injury all year
Two months off should be enough time for that to heal, so he may come back stronger in the end, in April
In the meantime tho, Dubas has to consider his options, because Travis Dermott is not ready to be the 1LD
The defence as of now is;
Dermott - Barrie
Marincin - Holl
Sandin - Ceci
That's called running on fumes, they are going to get caved in if they try to stand pat with that.
It's not even a question of making a blockbuster trade, its more about getting some seasoned veterans
They're not trading Nylander methinks, but Kapanen, Johnsson and Kerfoot are likely available

Why don't people from Toronto know how to spell the plural of leaf?

They do. Leafs simply sounds better than Leaves as a team name. Leaves could stand for those who leave as well, Leafs just works so much better on many different levels.Montegriffo wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 2:49 pmWhy don't people from Toronto know how to spell the plural of leaf?

The Maple Leaf was the signet of the Canadian Corps in the First World War, for which the team is named.Montegriffo wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 2:49 pmWhy don't people from Toronto know how to spell the plural of leaf?
The plural of that symbol is Maple Leafs.
The team is named in honour of the Corps, not the leaves of a tree.
This then went on to the become the Colours of the Confederation itself
It's no different than the Canadian flag, plural of which would also be Maple Leafs rather than maple leaves.
The uniforms in Blue & White is the Colours of St. Andrew
