I'm so sorry, a fag. And yes it was.
Still is a fag never was a faggot.
A faggot is a meatball in gravy or a bunch of firewood.
It was it the UK, so... suck an egg.
Sucking eggs is also a misnomer.
You blow the yolk out of an egg you don't suck it.

You suck though.

In elite circles in the Anglophone world, pleb has been used an insult to indicate the target person's supposed lower level of intellect and/or education. It's standard, both in English-speaking countries and everywhere else, that the higher classes have always had various degrees of their own "language" or at the least vocabulary, and the other classes had theirs. A simple google search reveals that TC is correct that it's used as an insult - just not by everyone. It's what an elitist snob would consider a biting insult, sort of like if a group of people who looked down on soldiers as down and unthinking grunts, called others they considered uncritical followers of something, "soldiers".

That's not an American thing, soldiers in America are lionized by the public to the point of being like superheroes.

I know they are. The "soldier" example was a hypothetical example. AFAIK, no such insult exists. It was a way to point out that even within the same country, you're going to have different ways of expressing yourself based on your class. "Pleb" is one such insult.

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/plebeian
plebeian adjective
Definition of plebeian (Entry 2 of 2)
1: of or relating to plebeians
2: crude or coarse in manner or style : COMMON
https://www.collinsdictionary.com/dicti ... h/plebeian
2. ADJECTIVE [usually ADJECTIVE noun]
If someone describes something as plebeian, they think that it is unsophisticated and connected with or typical of people from a low social class.

Chav is much more common here these days. I can't remember the last time I heard someone called a pleb.

That's not what Plebe in America means.

The context in America is Upperclassman to Freshman, in college.

Everybody who is a Plebe, is an elite, they are simply at the bottom rung of the upper classes.

The Plebes are not Chavs, they are Officer Candidates as it were.

Plebe is first year at Sandhurst, it's more like Rupert than it is Chav.

Derogatory terms for the ostensibly lower classes in America is more like; Redneck, Cracker, Cornpone, Hillbilly

To be a Plebe in America is to be a Freshman at the Military Academy, that is the elite.

The American equivalent term for "Chav" is arguably "Wigger"

Well, Americans think a bum is a tramp, a tramp is a tart and a tart is a pie.
They think a chip is a crisp, a cracker is a whitey and fanny is an arse.
They think a hooker is a prostitute, a jock is a sportsman and pants are trousers.
They think a tosser is someone who throws something away, that suspenders keep your trousers up and a strike is when you miss a ball not when you hit one.
So not too surprising that they get pleb wrong too. ;)
