Mid 80s I was listening to a lot of Bowie and Iggy Pop.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

I was never really a grebo. Apart from Motorhead of course. I got my heavy rock from hardcore punk like Discharge.

In the Canadian Army in the 1980's; it was basically Wayne's World, there was a lot of skids and good ol' boys.

You went with the flow, in barracks and the field it was hard rock, in the clubs off duty, dance music

Although we did go to the Goth rock clubs from time to time as well.

I didn't have any musical tribe, I listened to everything, I was a social butterfly, I mingled with everybody.

The only kids I found to be a bore where the earnest lefty peacenik types.

Useful idiot commie sympathizers by any other name.

I did see a lot of the original goth bands, Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy etc. Was never really a goth though. I dressed as a punk, studded leather jacket, spikey bleached hair, tight black jeans and winkle pickers. I looked like the young Billy Idol.

I started out high & tight with bomber jacket and Doc Martins, so kind of skinhead.

Then I evolved into growing my hair long on top, short on the sides, to keep the hair under the beret.

I evolved into long haired hippy and listened to a lot of Frank Zappa and early Pink Floyd.

The army erases individual style, there is an army style in of itself.

There was us, and there was the civilians, we embraced our martial bearing, we had our own fashion.

All that mattered was the pecking order in the ranks, it was a society unto itself, segregated from civilians.

The style was to be fit, and keen and aggressive, in uniform.

Look good, feel good, shoot good.

Thanks.
Leeds are live on the BBC tonight. FA cup 3rd round match against Arsenal starting in 15 mins.
Will be the first time I've seen them play live since their 1-0 victory against Man Utd in 2010 when we were 2 divisions below them.
Will be finished in plenty of time to catch the Leafs play.
