Re: UK election
I like Boris.
I just don't like what he says and does.
You know, the issues not the man.
Charisma is overrated in a leader.
Give me a grey man with honour every time.

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Major would be completely useless in this situation, Theresa May was Major in a skirt.
It's dirty fighting now, there's no middle ground, there's no quarter, everything will be decided by force.

Re: UK election
In theory that could work great, in practice though, Corbyn is too good self immolating to ever win in the first place.

Re: UK election
Perhaps, but the only way to get a Thatcher is to let the left blow things up first.
Like in the late seventies, the UK was in a pathetic state, that's how Thatcher rose to power

Re: UK election
At least Thatcher knew the value of EU membership.

Indeed. Unfortunately the left in the UK is as feckless as the Democrats in America right now, so they can't even get their shit together enough to run the place into the ground.

These things swing back and forth on a generational scale, the liberals are blowing themselves up all over.StCapps wrote: ↑Fri Nov 29, 2019 3:34 pmIndeed. The whole liberal order is falling apart, what comes in the wake of it, we shall see.

That was a totally different EU. That was before the Germans took over the continent economically. Now you're happy to let the grandchildren of Nazi's take over Europe because at least this time because they didn't invade militarily. She wanted no part of the Euro and kept Britain out of it. Further abuses by Brussels lead to this.
