Art IV, Section 4 is the real suicide pact though, eh?

The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.

What does "guarantee" mean, as to every State in this Union? Impose a republican government, or just promise to come and kill all the commies as needed to "guarantee" a form of government contrary to the will of the people of a given state?

Free assembly, that is the right to disassociate from the Union at any time -- the absolute right of secession -- is the only way I make sense of it all, and so I'm all in on true independence for city-states (free to stay in the USA, leave for independence, or join some other union)

Chicago for the Chicagoans, Portland for the Portlanders, and Mississippi for the Mississippians.
