Your right to a trial by your peers includes the right to enslave 12 of them for the duration of the trial, not to mention all the full time employees of the Justice process. And that's putting aside the absurd notion of medical enslavement, socialized medicine has them paid by the Government. There's quite a few Medical professional organizations now in favor of single payer.

I'll check it out. I like Russ, at least he's an honest conservative, and doesn't whine when a guest runs circles around him.Martin Hash wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 3:48 pmI listened to an EconTalk podcast recently; “Keith Smith in Free Market Healthcare,” which gave me hope there’s a solution. How does "no insurers" work? The 99% can't afford even the slightest serious illness or injury when a night in the hospital costs thousands of dollars.

It’s not that they wouldn’t take “insurers” but insurers won’t take them because they won’t play pricing games.
There’s weird perverse incentives for hospitals to list a service for 10x the amount they’ll actually accept from insurance.
The profit motive of hospitals adds layers of “investors” and managers that simply aren’t needed.
Trump recently announced his plan to force health providers to publicly list their prices. That’s at least a first step.

I've grown up with Free Public Healthcare.
It's not better. Same shit, except the insurance company is the government.
It's bankrupting the provincial government's here, they are going broke on Free Healthcare.
Now they've started pressuring the doctors to cut costs, so they've started cutting corners.
Millions of people don't even have a doctor, there's a shortage everywhere.
I have a fancy private clinic at my disposal in Tranna, I don't even use it, I do my own medical care.
The grass is not greener, the doctors can't save you anyhow.

If medicine got liability protection and Right to Work in a State, and some doctors wanted to set up, this “Free Market” approach would offer the first real solution to cost containment.

All true. What's bizarre is the nonprofits charge more than the for-profits! But they probably are taking the brunt of the indigent care too. This is whats fucked up about the current system, the solvent sick pay for the insolvent, and everyone else skates. ACA tried to help, but it's throwing buckets at a 3 alarm fire.Martin Hash wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 4:08 pmIt’s not that they wouldn’t take “insurers” but insurers won’t take them because they won’t play pricing games.

My wife works at a for-profit hospital, part of a small chain notorious for gouging and not making deals with insurers so everything is out of network. A guy in Bayonne got charged $9k for a cut that didn't need stitches!

What do you mean by "right to work" relating to medicine? No board certifications or licensing?

The doctors aren’t employees, they’re Pay For Service. But eliminating State-by-State licensing would be another step in the right direction.
