Now, getting back to the Trace at Saturn.

The Rings of Saturn are actually quite varied.

First off there are moons running through the rings ; Encedalus, Mimas & Hyperion.

Enceladus is an ice moon like a mini Europa.

There are also moonlets which are large asteroids.

The Rings are varied, some thick with small rocks, some thin with larger rocks, some full of dust, some clear.

There is also Ring Rain. The Magnetopshere of Saturn whips up charged dust particles which blow like storms.

So the combat in the rings can be in quite complex terrain, to include on 'land" and underground.

Hence why the Main Battle Droid giant soldier has evolved to be the all purpose weapons platform in asteroids

So a battle on a Moonlet in the Rings of Saturn is not X-Wings v. Tie Fighters

Nor are they zipping around like Gundams
'
There is a Starship Troopers like bounding, in low g, but that's only for Advance to Contact.

Upon TIC, the MBD's are using the terrain, as cover, and moving on foot like troops most of the time.

The combatants call also tunnel, so there is droid on droid tunnel warfare in the Rocks as well.

Rocks can also be used as moveable cover, they can also be launched as projectiles of various sizes.

Most of the time when the MBD's drop into the Rings, it is simply to conduct patrols.

Maintaining the initiative, dominating the terrain, ensuring that there is no build up of adversary forces.

The Rings are the Approaches, the Fulda Gap which the adversary could use to approach and assault.

At the same time, its 20 Earth's in diameter, it's vast, so most of the time they don't encounter anything.

They are just checking rocks as they go, looking for signs of infiltration.

Again, war is boring, this is why the A.I.s have female personas, to keep them company, to foster the morale.

These long range patrols are referred to as Patrolling the Zona.

The Ring Rain charged particle dust storms seriously degrade sensors.

This is when going to Stealth Mode is most effective, stealthed in the dust, Driods are hard to detect.

So they can come out of the dust on you, point blank. Or you could sail right past and miss them.

They could be pushing a rock ahead of them, then jump you CQC with melee weapons.

Even when they are floating in the Rings, it's more like submarine warfare than fighter planes.

You can always go north or south, rise or drop out of the Rings, but then you are exposed, no cover/concealment

It's a sea of dust, you can be picking your way through the dust like the Mutara Nebula, 'can't see shit in here'.

It's dark at Saturn, the sun is far away, it's spooky, shadowy, ghostly.

In the night of Saturn in the Rings, with Ring Rain blown up, it's like flying blind in a blizzard in the dark.

There is also Information Warfare in play.

The Approaches are watched by satellites in all sorts of orbits, Overhead Assets.

Forces in the Rings can try to conceal themselves in the Rocks, hug the rocks to blend in.

But for larger operations, this is not effective.

So there is all sorts of jamming, spoofing, hacking and sabotage, to disable sensors at key times.

There is all sorts of espionage to acquire the various types of access and controls to launch these cyber attacks.

In the DMZ, the opposing forces keep an eye on each other like the East German Border Guards.

There are Orbital Defense Identification Zones (ODIZ) where they challenge, just escort the intruders around.

They all fly rescue for civilian traffic, but they sometimes conflict as to whose space it is happening in.

Military units can be tasked to assist the Terraformers, but not in force, they don't approach the ITMP in force.

What's with all the Depeche mode?
Depeche Mode Ghost Aggressive is the TREBUCHET theme. OO7 in Space.

It's a Heavy Metal French style comic, with a Luc Besson directed action movie.

If ''Monty'' could choose his own spy theme it would be
