Not to lay into "Nostromo" too hard, but Conrad dispenses with the "sandbox" in one chapter. The worst parts of that fantastic novel gets lost in the tall grass over how to navigate a calm gulf with a rocky jetty.

I would hate to see a good idea about a Hard Sci-Fi space opera get lost in the weeds over how weeb-ass Gundams would "really fight" in the rings of Saturn.

If it is character driven, give us a character. like Conrad's 'Giorgio Viola,' who has a history in Garibaldi's army. All this Gundam - FTL drive - tactics shit is boring.

I don't write the minute details of Spacemerica into Book One.

I just have it all in my mind, for a whole Universe of stories and products

I am working on one novel/graphic novel in a whole series.

The Spacemerica Universe is like the Star Wars Universe, the first story is just an introduction

Like I say, if my wife likes it, it doesn't suck.

In terms of the character driven romance, my wife is a good judge, if she likes it, it doesn't suck

In terms of the realistic tactics, I asked my wife if she understood what was going on, she said she does

I asked if she thought it was cool, she said it was. If an unmartial chick gets it, the target audience will for sho

Another tactical aspect in the Trace at Titan is that the Rings of Saturn are only about a kilometer deep

So they can pop out of cover and make dashes, but soon as they are in open space, they come under fire

Robert Heinlein had some infantry tactics in Starship Troopers, I'm just expanding on that trope

I'm checking it with my friends, everybody whose read some so far likes it.

Maybe you're just a hippie faggot peacenik who isn't into kick ass military shit /shrugs
If you are trying to write a fake-ass military history, well George R.R. Martin beat you to it with his gay version of the War of the Roses. *YAWN* I have a more interesting and complex version from real history, without a bunch of faggy shit about about a fake country and dragons.

Give me something about rich, 3d people that you don't get from legit history. It isn't about "understanding" the tactics. An average chess player can understand any tactics in the plot... don't waste my time with twenty pages of bullshit about how a pincer-in-space would work when you can get the idea across in a sentence.
HAIL!

Her needs America so they won't just take his shit away like in some pussy non gun totting countries can happen.

The graphic novel is in the tradition of Heavy Metal metal magazine, it's a bit pornographic

The sex in the novel is just PG-13 sex, the comic book version is X-rated

Bear in mind that this is the Space War Thread not the Spacemerica thread

Spacemerica is just my space war, you're free to invent your own space war in this thread as you like

Yeah, I can IMAGINE a rich and detailed world. I do it every time I crank it to FP porn.

Build me some real people interacting in a real world that I believe in... now you are creating something.

"A New Hope" has realized characters that made people care about the silly nonsense before the Star Wars Universe could expand.

The problem with stories today is that any idiot can build a "Universe" without believable people to inhabit it.

There are libraries full of narrow-casting nerds who can't communicate anything universal to the human experience.

Another "also-ran" sci-fi nerd-service "Universe?" I already got the internet... no thanx
