In about three hours of me posting that the Turks and Kurds had a come to Jesus moment and decided to make peace. Trump did what no establishment politician ever could have accomplished.Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2019 7:00 amThe Kurds are not our "allies".
Turkey is our ally. Kurds are Turkey's enemies, even to the point of continuing terror attacks on Turkish civilians.
They are all a bunch of assholes, honestly, but if you are going to play the "zomg but our allies!!" game, then consider the impact on our foreign policy and reputation when we allow Kurds to establish a little terror enclave just over the Turkish border and then tell our actual allies to just deal with it.
The only way the Kurds can realistically survive like this is to reestablish relations with the actual government of Syria, work out a peace deal with Turkey so that all these God damned terror attacks stop, and Turkey then agrees to stop attacking them if they agree to stop launching terror attacks on Turkey.

What part of that was me praising Putin?StCapps wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2019 11:58 amHe gives Putin all the credit. First he attacks Trump for praising Putin, then he praises Putin for Syria, whatever Trump does, Orange Man is Bad, and Putin is only a bad guy when Trump is being nice to him, otherwise Monte loves him some Putin. No double standard there.
I guess we know what the Democrat spin will be, they are going to give Putin all the credit, after years of making him into the boogeyman, can't wait for that flip flop. Orange Man Bad, no matter what. Cognitive Dissonance is a helluva drug.
Fucking Hilarious Monte, never fucking change, the lulz are too good for you to start being rational now.
Russian troops alongside the Kurds has the same effect as US troops alongside them. Turkey isn't going to risk killing troops from a superior force. As soon as the Kurds were on their own he started shelling them. Now the Russians have moved in it stops. Putin has prolonged the civil war by backing Assad and using his propaganda machine to cover for his gas attacks on civilians. Trump has done Putin's bidding by ceding Northern Syria to him. Chamberlain would be proud.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Interesting timing. They chose to use this one time only card now. Only 11 against. When was the last time congress agreed on anything?
US House of Representatives recognizes 'Armenian genocide'

The US House of Representatives took the historic step Tuesday of passing a resolution officially recognizing the "Armenian genocide," a move sure to anger Turkey amid already-heightened tensions with Washington.
Cheers and applause erupted when the chamber voted 405 to 11 in support of the resolution "affirming the United States record on the Armenian Genocide," a first for the US Congress where similar measures have been introduced but never reached the floor for a vote.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said she was honored to join her colleagues "in solemn remembrance of one of the great atrocities of the 20th century: the systematic murder of more than 1.5 million Armenian men, women and children by the Ottoman Empire."
The Armenians say the mass killings of their people from 1915 to 1917 amounted to genocide, a claim recognized by some 30 countries. Turkey strongly denies the accusation of genocide.
