God bless Marty Hash. He's a great American. It's a privilege to hang out in his basement.

IMHNSO the argument is stupid because it's coming from two different bases. Arguing that a Monarchy who bars it's subjects from possessing weapons is the ultimate gun control. VS Arguing that among Constitutional Republics, the US created Gun Control.Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2019 8:35 pmNo shit. It is not even at the level of fifth grade history either.
They are two different arguments. Frankly, what's worse. The Monarchy that promises no liberties or the Constitutional Republic that codifies liberties and takes them away piece meal ?

There's nothing inherently wrong with gun control, it's as American as apple pie and baseball.C-Mag wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2019 8:54 pm

So long as it is not federal gun control, and so long as it does not abridge the right itself, it's legitimate.
To each state their own, I simply choose Nevada, freest fuckin' state in the Union.
Maybe Connecticut doesn't want NDTR, that's up to Connecticut.
But when you've had to put up with Canada all you life, it's gotta be Nevada, I'm going all the way.

They are not two different arguments. This is a meaningless distinction irrelevant to the phrase gun control in which he said it. Nor did he bother to make such a pointless distinction. Nor is that distinction itself even historically accurate. Gun control laws, just as all arms control, are a matter of historical record in Europe going back throughout the middle ages. An aristocracy is rule by the warrior class and the warrior class does not enjoy peasants armed with good weapons, after all.C-Mag wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2019 8:54 pmIMHNSO the argument is stupid because it's coming from two different bases. The sad part is not that he posted it but that several of you just fall in line with an incredible facile assertion as long as the person says it with a fake air if certainty and bombastically buries any contradicting evidence with insults.
The United States obviously did not invent gun control in any sense of the phrase, nor in any distinction one wishes to make other than "America invented gun control whereby it is implemented by laws written by Americans", which is pointless.

Well fuck dude. I can argue you are disingenuous because it was the Roman's or the Chinese or the fucking Assyrians who started arms control.
I can see two arguments here. And don't fucking tell me I"m falling in line. When I think of gun control, I don't think of the actions of a Monarchy. I think of a democratic or republican body restricting codified liberties.

This doesn't even make sense. Are you trying to be a monarchist to defend your right to bear arms? When I think of gun control, I don't think of the actions of a Monarchy. I think of a democratic or republican body restricting codified liberties.

Never mind that America actually rebelled against a democracy, it was the Westminster Parliament who imposed taxation without representation, George III was a constitutional monarch, the absolute monarchy was overthrown in 1688, it wasn't about monarchy, it was about the colonies getting voted down.C-Mag wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2019 9:20 pmWell fuck dude. The right is a liberty not a freedom. There has to be an authority to defend your liberties.TheReal_ND wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2019 9:25 pmThis doesn't even make sense. The second amendment asserts that authority to be your state, not Washington, but the state can restrict that liberty to an extent, New York doesn't have to have the same laws as Texas and vice versa.

No, I'm just saying in Monarchies there typically is not a codified liberty to keep and bear arms.TheReal_ND wrote: ↑Mon Sep 30, 2019 9:25 pmThis doesn't even make sense.
