Carson City, baby, just across the border from NoCal, I could roll down to Big Sur in about four hours.

You drive fast.

Best drive: Eureka, CA to Salt Lake City, then up through Idaho to Yellow stone and Grand Tetons, go back through SLC to Las Vegas, then up to Lee Vining, CA to go through Yosemite to San Francisco, and back up to Eureka.

Yeah, probably more like 5 1/2 hours, I don't want to get CHP on my ass.

My wife will want to go to San Fran, so probably Bay City first, then head south down the coast highway.

So, I had the day off. I'm working tomorrow, but today was a freebie.

I changed the front brakes and rotors on the truck, fucked off for a bit and then headed to the local range. Because Elk season is coming quick and I want to get some rounds through the 300 Win Mag.

Google, Drive out to the local range, fucking Closed. No Joy for me.
Do you normally go to a gun range to shoot? I thought the range was wherever you wanted to shoot up there.

It's an actual range.

Two factors. One I'm just in this area temporary and I don't want to go popping off rounds just anywhere. Second, I want to Zero in on a known distance range with my 300 win mag prior to Elk Season.

Deer are given, I'm going to kill them, no probs. I don't fuck around much on elk. I get a shot, I have to know EXACTLY where my rounds are hitting. I put print and tape a dope sheet to my stock so I can make quick field adjustments without having to remember by adjustments.

I'm hunting mouse at the moment. Got a little fucker living behind a panel in my truck. Ignores the traps. Bastard keeps showing his face in broad daylight but by the time I get the air rifle up to my shoulder he's fucked off. I think I need an air pistol for close quarter mouse hunting.
Or a cat.

One got into the bin in my kitchen and couldn't get out again. Shot that fucker from the hip but there's no sport in that.

I'm not big on shooting animals.

I will kill what I eat and eat what I kill, but it's not recreational for me.

The animal my guns are for, is Homo Sapiens Sapiens.

If I need some bacon from a pig, I'll just pop them them in the head with an air gun.

I don't need point three five seven magnum semi jacketed hollow point to make supper.

Waste of ammo.

For me hunting is cultural, and a deeply rooted family tradition. I view it the same as it is for aboriginals. It's about the hunt, the chase, and then the meat. Antlers are nice, but not a priority.

I pride myself in being able to process the meat into a wide variety of end products and then sharing the meat with friends and family throughout the year. People that waste meat are considered low creatures in my circles. I don't waste much either. Even the trimmings are consolidated and later packaged for dog food. The hound frickin loves it and it's good for him.

I'm not in any way opposed to hunting, enjoy.

It just doesn't excite me.

My culture is shooting communists.

I see it as it's him or me.
Little fucker is chewing up the insulation behind the wall panels.
A bit of pest control, kind of a final solution.
If he was outside the owls would have had him by now.
I'm just trying to get away without resorting to chemical warfare.
I'll pray to his ancestors for forgiveness afterwards.
