Orly? I didn't know that. I've never heard the term New Romantics before.

The best New Wave summer for me wasn't until 1990 though.

That's the first time I went to Andalusia, I didn't even know what disco dancing was all about till I went to Spain.

R.E.M. was huge in Spain too, they didn't say "R-E-M", they just called them "Rem"

They played it constantly, in every bar, Rem.



Grenada is a university town, so it's all college kids, they just danced to any old silly song, you have to dance in Spain or no girls will talk to you.

You have to have a motorcycle if you want to take them home.

Even if it's a just a scooter from the rental place, but you have to have a motorbike of some sort for them to jump on.

Well, maybe it's more accurate to call the New Romantics a sub-set of the new wave movement. Less punky than the originals and more commercial, dance-oriented.
The mainstream clubs of the time were all Micheal Jackson, Shalamar Bee Gees etc. Pure disco, easy pick ups and deeply un-cool.

There were two types of clubs in the 6ix, dance and rock.

Culture Beat Mr. Vain was number one in the dance clubs.

Down the street at the Rock n' Sex Club on Queen West, where random chicks would get up on stage and perform sex acts on guys, like chicks giving blowjobs in front to the crowd. . .

RATM was the soundtrack.
