Re: 2nd Amendment Thread
Isn't the truth that you'd rather accept the occasional mass shooting and inner-city gun deaths than risk any sort of restriction on your ''freedoms and rights''.
Only in America does a car backfiring cause mass panic. It could happen to you any time you visit the mall or attend a country music concert but you'd rather play Russian roulette than take guns off guys with dangerous mental illnesses.

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Is that womp womp signalling your indifference to the victims of gun deaths?
Seems a little harsh.

We already take guns away from the dangerously mentally ill. Red flag laws are about taking guns away from people who don't meet basic thresholds required by due process.Montegriffo wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2019 6:14 amIsn't the truth that you'd rather accept the occasional mass shooting and inner-city gun deaths than risk any sort of restriction on your ''freedoms and rights''.

Red flag laws will basically be weaponized against people in the same way that "hate speech" rules are weaponized against people on social media. If you post ideas that they don't like, they will label them "dangerous" and recommend you to the red flag law board. This will have an impact on free speech like nothing you ever experienced before. Speaking out against some horrific leftist/globalist policy could result in your losing your firearms, so most people will just remain silent out of fear.

Fuck prior restraint and anyone brain-dead enough to press it as a state policy.

OK. Just keep letting it happen and prosecute those responsible after the death and mayhem (if they don't shoot themselves anyway).
Let everybody speed past schools and only prosecute offenders if they kill a child.

No. You still refuse to acknowledge the fact that we already have systems in place to remove firearms from the possession of dangerously mentally ill people. Furthermore, your example was ridiculous since it is a crime to make a threat of violence against a school and should automatically result in an investigation and possible seizure of any firearms that would be in that person's possession.
None of the examples people use to justify red flag laws were somehow above the law as it was. That's not how they want to use these laws.

Example of a weaponized legal system:
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2019/0 ... ngs-video/
Woman leads an organization that worked to clear up voter fraud, especially people registered in multiple states, etc. Obama administration targeted her mercilessly using various law enforcement agencies. Her main suit was against the IRS for targeting her with audits and refusing to recognize her group's not-for-profit status. Among the targeting agencies, the ATF raided her home and searched her firearms safe.
The idea of the red flag laws is that they will be able to target people like this even further. People will have to decide whether or not openly advocating for their political beliefs is worth having their constitutional rights stripped from them.

Wasn't one of the recent shooters denied when he wanted to buy a weapon? He ended up buying one from a friend. When concerned neighbors contacted the police they sent out a patrol but they failed to find the address. I kid you not. The system almost worked that time.
I wonder how many shootings are prevented every year by people just doing what they are supposed to.
