First time I've seen this thread...
So I'll give it a shot.

I'm liberal because I believe in individual rights not only collective rights.
I'm not conservative because traditional values don't have much purchase with me.
I'm not religious... I'm not really tribal in any significant way.
I'm not whole heartedly progressive because I believe in individual rights... and progressivism is too weak on this front in its current iteration of progressivism.
I do believe in making collective efforts to combat climate change though... and so on this issue I have some progressive inclinations.. but I worry that there is a segment too eager to trample on individual rights and this must be guarded against.
I also believe in a certain collective commitments to care for the ill and those who have suffered from disruptions in the economy... but I am leery of long term hostile dependence and believe this needs to be guarded against.

You sound like one of my fellow moderate Democrats that the right keeps telling us are extinct.

Nice to meet you...

Truth be told... it is thanks to this forum that I stopped drinking the "full potency" left wing Kool aid.

Now I am considered right wing by the left and left wing by the right.

Thanks for that.

Hey at least you've remained consistent even if the old memory is going.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

I was never all in on the Left, but it took finding myself getting beaten up in a left leaning forum for me to realize how fucked up and intolerant they were of anyone not fully aligned with them, same as the far right. Both sides demonize anyone who dares to be Moderate.

The Alien and Sedition Acts were a huge mistake in judgement on Adams part, but the others were a central Democratically elected government exercising it's authority, which is not the same thing as authoritarian government.

Yep, hence the accusations of being a partisan hack bitch. Ironically, from the biggest partisan hack on the forum.
