Whilst trying to say there would be no hurricanes without global warming is clearly idiotic, the link between warmer oceans and more intense storms is well established.
On the other hand, the link between fossil fuels, CO2 output and average global temperature increases is denied only by the most fervent science deniers.
Claiming that it is a ''Chinese hoax'' is at the other extreme of ignorance and potentially far more damaging than to suggest electric cars are better when you have a power outage (if that was what AOC was suggesting).
Hundreds of thousands of small household generators are far less economically or environmentally efficient than large central power stations so maybe locally produced renewable sources of energy would be a better short and long term solution to the inconveniences of hurricanes.
