Sorry DB - VB is not a "real" language....if you don't to have to manage memory, its not coding.

Now if you had posted C or Sparc....then maybe some respect.

*C needs to be the "King's C" - ANSI. None of this Objective C shit.
Few people write clean C. I think even in real time systems projects are moving to C++ just because resources are more plentiful.

OK, you all know me fairly well, as an anonymous internet friend.

My last training in programming was MIS201 in 1986 which was exclusively BASIC and the final project involved a flow chart with two or three decision nodes IIRC.

I think if I busted my ass about 7 or 8 hours a day I could be writing decent code in one of these C languages by labor day. Am I full of shit here?

I do have a soft spot for VB. It is a cool environment for what it is. It's not legit programming, though. It is a cool environment that lets even people with legal and business degrees create little office apps. They can even do it with all gui. Pretty cool.

To be an elite hacker you need to be able to write visual basic scripts that sum columns in a spreadsheet

Writing unintelligible code that only a handful of people can understand?
You're a natural.
