Did you not watch the video by the Swedish (now dead - unfortunately) dude? We're headed for a much lower population over the next 100 years...
Third world culture is slowly changing from pumping out babies (expecting 7-10 to die) to 3-4 kids...soon it will be 1-2 kids....
1-2 kids means population goes down.
There's no way renewable energy can replace the fossil fuel consumption of 8 billion people, with the average wealth we have now.
We are on the cusp of fusion...not worried about this at all.
We grow more food than we can possible eat...we can desalinize water...we can probably mine asteroids for more metals...
Resources is not going to be humanity's biggest problem....integrating ass-backwards third worlders into modern society and fighting the evils of communism are the biggest problem we have.
Convincing them that women are not property and that throwing gays off buildings is unacceptable...or that communism leads to oppressive cronyism....Third worlders are uneducated and susceptible to false promise of Marxists...
Also Keeping the evil and greedy PRC leadership at bay... PRC is perhaps biggest threat humanity faces.

I think technology is very unlikely to solve peak oil.
On the other hand, if we can stretch current reserves out past the mid-2050s without hitting global peak, the enormous decline in the human population alone is going to slash global oil demand and push peak out several decades. If we hit peak before the demographic winter comes into full effect, it is going to be rough, but the population crash could push us back below peak.
The problem the developing of the rest of the world is that the other races place little value on the things we do. They do not give a shit about dumping so much garbage into the ocean there are now plastic garbage islands, or dumping fluorocarbons into the atmosphere causing ozone holes again.

Nothing is going to change that.
Spiking cancer rates will - they'll either change...or be changed.

Oh please it has nothing to do with race. Impoverished countries don't care about that shit because they have bigger problems to worry about, once they don't, they'll start worrying about first world problems. White people didn't really start giving a shit about the environment until after the industrial revolution, don't expect non-white people to give a shit when they are still industrializing and far from first world status.

You realize that most white people in industrializing countries were poor as shit during the industrial revolution? Right? And to be fair - whites were the first (as far as I know) modern civilized people - to even think about conversation....

Yup, and back then, the white people in non-industrialized nations didn't give a shit about the environment either, just like non-white third world nations don't give a shit about the environment today.
Another coincidence?
When they get their shit together, and have time to focus on first world problems, they will do so, until then, of course they don't give shit.

I think you're wrong on this - go research US environmentalism then come back...

The US didn't give a shit until after it was one of the wealthiest nations on the planet. Expecting third world nations to care, and deciding that the reason they don't is race, is fucking retarded.

We were one of the wealthiest countries in the late 1800 to early 1900's?

*yip*
Are you seriously unaware of that?
The US had already industrialized by that point. Britain was richer, but not for much longer after that, the US was on the verge of overtaking Britain economically in the early 1900's, and they were the first to industrialize.
Third world nations beginning the industrialization process cannot be held to the standard of America in early 1900's, that's ridiculous.
