Re: THE ERA OF BORIS
Even no-deal must be approved by Parliament.
Boris has no majority for a no-deal Brexit and Parliament has rejected Boris's plan to suspend Parliament in order to achieve it.
Tory rebels are queueing up to tell anyone who will listen that they will vote against no-deal.
Boris isn't getting us out by October 31st unless he accepts May's deal.
This is just going to end up with a general election where the vote on the right is split between Farage's latest party and the Tory party and if Corbyn doesn't win it will be a hung Parliament and months of further uncertainty will follow.
Eventually, the only option left will be to put it back to the people in a second referendum.

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Second referendum is called ignoring the first referendum, this has already been settled, you just want a do-over because you don't like the result.Montegriffo wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2019 3:52 pmEven no-deal must be approved by Parliament.

A lot has changed in the 3 years since the referendum.
No one voted for no deal, it was not on the ballot and it was not campaigned for.
Not one of the main Brexit campaigners said we would leave without a deal. Like you, they all said we would leave with a better deal than we already had. Lies, lies and more lies.

The next referendum will be based on lies and misinformation as well, you are under the mistaken impression that the public is finally informed now.Montegriffo wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2019 4:27 pmA referendum based on lies and misinformation is worthless.StCapps wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2019 4:19 pmSecond referendum is called ignoring the first referendum, this has already been settled, you just want a do-over because you don't like the result.Montegriffo wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2019 3:52 pmEven no-deal must be approved by Parliament.

Re: THE ERA OF BORIS
The population is now better informed. They can see how impossible it is to get a better deal from the EU than the one we already have.
That was the worst Brexit lie and now it is exposed.
We already had the best deal in the EU. No Euro, no Schengen and a veto on all policies we don't want to adopt.
Given a choice between that and no-deal would result in a very different outcome.

Re: THE ERA OF BORIS
The ultimate question here is, let's say they have a second referendum... It specifically asked "1) no deal Brexit, 2) Brexit with deal, 3) no Brexit".StCapps wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2019 4:29 pmThe next referendum will be based on lies and misinformation as well, you are under the mistaken impression that the public is finally informed now.Montegriffo wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2019 4:27 pmA referendum based on lies and misinformation is worthless.

Will Monte demand a 3rd referendum if the majority votes no deal? Or Brexit with deal? Because it's not "the correct result" according to him? Will be claim (again) the people "were misinformed, didn't know what they were voting for"?

The majority will not vote no-deal. That is a minority position.Ph64 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2019 4:42 pmThe ultimate question here is, let's say they have a second referendum... I'd accept leaving with May's deal (the only deal currently available and the best we can get according to the EU). It's worse than what we have now but far better than no-deal. It's stupid but at least it isn't suicidal.
At the time of the first referendum, there was no plan put forward by any of the main campaigners for Brexit. In fact, Farage and Cameron just walked away and Boris slipped into the shadows after losing the leadership contest to May.
Now voters have seen that leaving with a better deal is an impossible dream as demonstrated by the lack of support for May's deal.
The backstop isn't going away and tensions in Northern Ireland are rising just as predicted.
Anyone who thinks that all the things we have learned since the first referendum won't affect a second vote is not being honest with themselves.

Re: THE ERA OF BORIS
Boris pledges £2 billion to help mitigate the catastrophic effects of a no deal Brexit.
So we are to spend billions to repair the holes we punched into our own bucket.
I remember when the Tories were the party of good fiscal policies and Labour were the ones who tried to spend their way out of government fuck ups.

I must have missed the bus which said "we'll take £2 billion pounds from the NHS to spend on leaving the EU in the worst possible way".

Re: THE ERA OF BORIS
Bare in mind that even those pushing no-deal are now admitting that their policy (which nobody voted for) is so bad that billions have to be spent to mitigate the effects.
They're not even trying to say that no-deal is a good thing any more.
