England has fallen
Meh.
I'm parent sitting today 'cos Mum's fella is down at Mercedes-world having the track day that came with his new AMG.
The garden is full of roses, the sun is shining and the Ashes starts in a week or so.
I think I might bake some scones.
Life is great.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

“I was with prime minister Modi two weeks ago, and we talked about this subject,” said Mr Trump. “And he actually said, ‘Would you like to be a mediator or arbitrator?’ I said, ‘Where?’ He said, ‘Kashmir’.” Mr Trump said he would “love to be a mediator”.

[...]

A spokesperson for India’s ministry of external affairs said it noted Mr Trump’s suggestion that he was “ready to mediate”, but that “no such request” had been made to Mr Trump by Mr Modi.
There's something sad about a guy who after finding himself in the most powerful, political office in the world, still feels a need to make up bullshit stories like that to make himself seem more important. Who is he trying to impress?

Did he, or did they backpedal after the fact it made news?

Right, Fife, that's clearly what I'm saying there...

He can "get away" whatever he likes. Including acting a fatherless child pining for attention and love. But like all you faggots have the freedom to criticize and mock all the purple-haired fairies, trannies and race-baiters, I take for myself that same freedom to call your president a weak-willed, pathetic, insecure child. Like you, I could pretend that you're crying about me "getting with" that, but I am not as ignorant of your thoughts as you are of mine. I detest Trump's personal weakness, but his politics are uncontroversial, as far as I'm concerned.

That his immigration policy is weak and he has no will to secure his country's borders, and he's even more spineless and shaped by others than Bush jr. was on foreign policy, will only affect me insofar as my country will - again - send the military off to fight in another of your wars. Business as usual.

No skin off my teeth if he "gets away with"...whatever his politics are this week. That he upsets your liberals and leftists, hey, it's fun I get it.... but he's still pathetic, and you keep getting nothing in return for his antics but a couple cheap laughs at some empty words on Twitter. Like starved dogs settling for scraps.

If your biggest criticisms of him are personality based, he must be doing a pretty good job, if that's the best you got.

His personality means he is not actually working. He's just sitting on his ass all day, tweeting, eating junkfood and taking naps. Then he holds press conferences or goes to a rally to be adored like a teenage girl. His staff is doing a moderately good work, giving what they have to work with.

He works enough to do a good job, whether you want to give all the credit to the staff that he chose to delegate to or not. If your best anti-Trump ammo is criticizing his personality, that's a way above average politician right there, because most politicians have a lot more substantive things worth criticizing.

Load of postmodernistic relativizing. He is a below average politician if he cannot tell the difference between reality and fantasy, if he has a pathological need to lie himself more importantly than he is - despite everyone around him knowing he is bullshitting. Leading a country is about more than having the right politics. If you're a senile wreck who can't deal with reality, you need to hand over (or have handed over) the reins of your political project to someone more capable.
