No. Pretending that there is any easy route to a world cup final is trolling.
Or ignorance.

There are only so many top tier teams in the world, and some paths are easier than others.

England's path is about as easy as they ever going to have it, or any other team is likely to have it, they didn't face a single top tier team, except Belgium in a fairly meaningless game, who didn't even play their starters because the group was so weak they had already clinched a seed in the next round. Belgium should have deliberately lost, then they would have had the easy road and made it all the way to finals, instead of having to face Brazil and France instead. One side of the bracket was complete garbage, and the other bracket was every good team in the tournament, and England was in the shitty bracket because they lost to Belgium, and Belgium faced an infinitely harder road because they were in bracket were all the good teams got seeded.

Croatia had the easiest path to finals in the knockout round that I've seen and so did England, that bracket was complete joke, it's never that easy and the stars lined up for the easiest path either team will ever have to a world cup final.

Pretending otherwise is ignorance on such a scale, that you know less than someone who barely knows anything about soccer, sad.

Literally the six best teams were all not in Croatia or England's bracket, it was fucking stupid. No easy path to a World Cup final my ass.

If you think England would have any realistic chance of beating France, Belgium, Brazil, Argentina, Portugal or Uruguay, you don't know shit about soccer.

If you think the two brackets strength competition was anywhere near parity, you are insane. One bracket was filled with best in the world and a couple of way in over their head scrappy underdogs, and the other bracket had one team who was any good, was filled with okay to decent teams and a couple lucky to be there's. It's not even close.

Combine that with being in the easiest group in the tournament to advance from, and that's a cakewalk England had. It doesn't get any easier than that in a World Cup, be fucking real.

Croatia were 4th and England 6th in the rankings. That's 2 of the top six right there.
I think England could have beaten any if those but France.
Brazil were weak and still recovering from their 7-1 drubbing by Germany 4 years before. Argentina were weak and didn't get out of the group stage, neither did Portugal. Uruguay were nowhere near the top six.
Belgium would have been a tough match and we did lose to them in the group stage but it was a match neither side really wanted to win.

FIFA Rankings don't mean shit. Both Argentina and Portugal made it out of the group stage and were better than England by a mile. Uruguay is better than England, your soccer team is garbage, they had a good run enabled by easy competition, know your role, and shut your mouth.

England soccer fans who think their hot shit because of the FIFA Rankings, does it get anymore delusional than that? Makes TDS seem rational.

England wishes they were good at soccer, they'll cling to any success and any bullshit rankings, to pretend they are better than they really are. Y'all are in for a rude awakening when you run into real competition at the next major tournament, bet that.

...and I'll take FIFA rankings (imperfect as they are) over the opinion of a jumped-up ice jockey who never knows when he's wrong, any day of the week. ;)
