Is this true?

Sometimes, but for some reason, when Trump does it, it backfires less often then when other POTUS's do it, which is strange.
No, I meant did Ronnie actually say that?

It's like Maggies ''there is no alternative (to globalism)'' speech.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Not sure. Sounds like something Ronny Raygun might say, but could easily be fake news.

Even if it is true, the quote says trade war against our friends. I don't think we really consider China our friend. The full context behind would be helpful.

Yeah but Trump does trade wars with legit allies and comes out ahead too, it makes no sense, but just because the results don't fit my worldview doesn't mean it isn't happening.

I mean the truth of the matter is America usually has lower tariffs on other countries products than other countries have on their products, so calling them out on it, and engaging in a little reciprocity can get them to bargaining table to lower tariffs in general. It's fucking diabolical, tariffs aren't supposed to work, they are just supposed to backfire, but then Trump does it and it backfires way less often and he actually gets a way better deal out of it than before he slapped some tariffs on them.

It's legit impressive how a usually counter-productive tool can sometimes be used to pull out a long term win by sucking it up and taking a short term loss. Mad dap to Trump on that, that's some skilled fucking maneuvering right thur.

Yes, it's true, but when he had people, or when he negotiated trade, it was a true trade agreement, not this bullshit we have had for the past 20+ years. Where it guts the US economy.... Unless you noticed Reagan left a strong economy, which Bush Sr. was able to ride a wave, and Clinton until his last two years in office, where all his policies started to destroy the work Reagan did... they say Clinton balanced the budget by gutting SS. But what do I know...

The lactose larcenist really did say that though.
She closed down the shipyards and bought ships from South Korea and Japan.
She closed the mines and bought coal from China.
She closed the steelworks and bought steel from India.
She is the grandmother of Globalisation and Ronnie's the granddad.

Comparative advantage ftw, economic nationalism is overrated, free trade is where it's at, protectionism is for losers. Maggie and Ronnie know.

The only good use for tariffs, is reciprocity to leverage negotiations that result in lower tariffs on both sides down the road.

Agreed.

Also, Reagan opened the door for the fuckers who destroyed America's economy once and for all.
