Well.. if the reality we wanted to understand, was the reality of what it's like for foreign diplomats to work with the Trump administration, then one of those diplomats' perception IS reality.
Reality to the diplomats specifically. Not necessarily reality as average folks would view it.
Who cares how "average folks" view anything if A: They weren't there, and/or B, they don't know anything about the topic? Average folks don't do diplomacy at the international level, nor have "average folks" been present at diplomatic talks. If you haven't participated in X, you're not a witness to X, and if you're not a witness to X, nor even have any knowledge of what people actually do in (situation X) you can't say anything worthwhile about X.

It's like if you're cleaning woman with no education beyond elementary school. Now, you may have an opinion about what went on at a meeting between Krustjev and some Soviet party officials in 1953, but if you were neither there nor know anything about Soviet party politics in 1952 or read any source material on the matter... why should anyone care about your opinions?

Or, if you found that too offensively elitist, it's like if some fancy-schmancy academic urbanite tells you that you can't build a house with (material X) or risk it falling apart, because he read that in Cosmopolitan. And then he starts saying you had conversations with his friends about building material X that you never had... and calls you a liar if you dispute his version of your talks. Now... who's the better, more credible witness in that scenario, Carlus.. the fancy academic or yourself?
Stop arguing for a monarchy.

Some opinions are more informed than others.

Some opinions are clearly influenced by partisan hackery clouding judgement.

Perception quite often does not reflect reality, especially when that perception is the result of Trump Derangement Syndrome.

And the British ambassador's assesment of the US administration is supposed to be an example of TDS?

It is apparantly Trump derangement to notice more or less the same things people here discuss... Only here, the "internal conflict within the administration" would be called something like "The Deep State vs God-Emperor Trump".

Yes they are, someone with a top diplomatic job with daily interactions with the Trump administration is in a much better position to be well informed than most.

Apparently not in this guy's case. TDS is a helluva drug.

The divisions in the adminstration are oversold, especially compared to past adminstrations. Pretending the Trump admin is extra chaotic is asinine. I don't care if Trump haters or Trump nutthuggers who buy into it, they are both wrong.

You don't think that the British Ambassador to Washington is well informed about the Trump administration?

Ps, you know that the TDS meme doesn't work anymore?
You just trot it out every time you can't or don't want to address criticism of Trump.
It's weak and tedious.

Some British Ambassador to Washington might be, this guy, not so much. If he was well informed, he wouldn't repeating bullshit talking points as his take on the administration.

Get better criticisms of Trump, shitty criticisms is a sign of TDS, if you had better material you wouldn't need to reach and out yourself as suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome.

By ''bullshit talking points'' I assume you mean ''we all know Trump is inept and incompetent and that his administration is chaotic and dysfunctional but we don't like anyone pointing it out''.
