Is multiple citizenship bullshit?

Post by brewster »

Was reading today about a dude being held in Russia with American, Canadian, Irish, and UK passports. WTF? I was always dubious about dual citizenship, but quadruple? Seems to me you declare yourself the citizen of one fucking place, the place you permanently live. Anything else is bullshit, including denying citizenship to permanent legal residents.

Are you a US citizen if you were born to citizens briefly abroad? Yes. Are you if you're born to citizens living abroad and never lived in the US? Not IMO. Maybe you're entitled to a Green Card.
We are only accustomed to dealing with like twenty online personas at a time so when we only have about ten people some people have to be strawmanned in order to advance our same relative go nowhere nonsense positions. -TheReal_ND

I agree, it's ridiculous. We need to know who the lawmakers and legislatures are that hold duel citizenship.

I don't understand why some countries just give it away. My mom got Irish citizenship simply because my great-grandparents were born there
