Because that's a lame ending, and when Game of Thrones is at it's best, there is epic backstabbing going on. They could end it like that, but that would suck monkey balls.brewster wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2019 3:56 pmI'm finally caught up and can read this thread again. Great point about the "Honorable" Starks. Other thoughts:StCapps wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2019 1:02 pmJon is half retarded Kath, very slow on the uptake, it is known. Jon is not smart, neither was Ned Stark, he's always getting out thought by his opposition, just like Ned before him, and Rob as well. It's not about winning or losing battles, it's about pursuing what is right in face of all pragmatic considerations to the point where that naive optimism gets you killed.
He's got that Male Stark Brave Blockhead Syndrome, how can you not have noticed? That's what got Jon killed by his own men, and it took some Lord of the Light shit to bring him back from the dead, come on now Kath, don't you remember?
Sansa and Bran are the smart ones, but they weren't smart enough as kids to save Ned or Rob, so Ned bumbled his way into execution, followed by Rob. Hopefully Jon breaks the wheel, and proves that a little experience and a dash of Targaryen blood are enough to temper the Male Stark Brave Blockhead Syndrome is what it takes to not get killed blinded by naive optimism this time, with a little help from Sansa and Bran to make up for his lack of smartness and tunnel vision on justice.
If Dany wants to kill Jon, the key is going to be taking out Sansa, and Bran first, so Brave Blockhead Jon doesn't have any smart people to bail him out. She'll also have to take out Arya, or she'll just get killed by her after she takes out Jon.
Jon is in a better position to win a Targaryen Backstabbing Civil War post-Long Night, considering his allies, if he doesn't go full on Brave Blockhead that is, which he has been known to in the past, and one side of his family is notorious for doing it, especially on the male side, with Bran being the only exception, and basically only after becoming the Three-Eyed-Raven.
But why does no one take seriously a "Ferdinand & Isabella" co-equal king and queen?

Re: Game of Thrones - mostly
Because Danaerys doesn't want a co-equal...
She is the dragon mother.
She either wants a Khal Drogo beast man to tame her... which Jon certainly isn't.
Or she wants to be the Queen who other's kneel before.
That's what the GOT writers have created... to then expect her to accept a co-equal would be a failure to follow through.
So either Jon becomes Khal.... which I don't see coming...
Or...
I guess we'll see... but it will probably be tragic.

That would just be bad writing to not follow through, following through results in infinitely better drama than not following through.
Jon and Dany Live Happily Ever After, is about the least GoT-like ending ever, if that's ending they go with, that's just betraying the entire ethos of the show, while undermining the characters and the ending of the show. It's literally the worst possible ending they could do.
No GoT, that's a bad GoT.

Yeah, but only the Mormont's & Theon dying in the gigantic battle was pretty un GoT too. They've lost a lot of their mojo and let too many characters wear impervious plot armor.

Agreed, that's why I am worried they'll stick fuck the ending up. But if they get back to their roots, there is gold in them hills, if they aren't too incompetent to find it.

The more I think about it, everybody in the crypts dying would have been awesome, an echo of the baggage train attack at Agincourt. It would have made a classic scene, everybody thinking "wow, we won!" then opening the crypts to see a slaughterhouse. Now THAT would have been old school GoT! Sweeping a bunch of pieces off the table.

They had a 100lb girl hold an entire section of Winterfell’s wall, and then leapfrog a million zombies to kill the night king. It’s full SJW cuckfest from here.

Who better to kill the Night King? If you can't come up with a better alternative, perhaps it wasn't the choice of killer or the choice of how to kill him that's the problem, but the Night King and White Walkers themselves, putting the writers into a corner that they then choose the least lame way out of said corner.SuburbanFarmer wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2019 8:15 pmThey had a 100lb girl hold an entire section of Winterfell’s wall, and then leapfrog a million zombies to kill the night king. If your alternative involves the Ice Zambies hanging around into the final three episodes, wrong answer. You can't make the Ice Zombie ending the big climax, which is why they got it out of the way, that's about the best you can hope for. It's the Ice Zombies fault, Ice Zombie Death Star was the only solution to the overpowered enemy that otherwise couldn't lose without that fatal flaw. Arya is simply the best candidate to be Luke Skywalker in that scenario.

Remember I had the zombies taking Winterfell, and marauding all the way to Kings Landing for the finale. Dani and friends ally with Cersei or watch her destroyed.
