The Yes We Can Flower Power comes a cropper.
Then the mood darkens and thus it becomes Helter Skelter.
When it reaches SDS Weather Underground levels of absurd, that's the sign it's starting to burn itself out.
Indeed. It isn't a sign of the "inevitable" takeover of leftist identity politics on both sides of the political spectrum, like some here seem to think. McGovern might win the nomination instead of Humphrey, but that just leads to an even bigger ass kicking in the presidential election, not a brand new political paradigm where the current establishment is overthrown by fringe outsiders who project their views on the silent majority.
2016 wasn't a gamechanger that 1968 was, no matter how much wishful thinking is engaged in.

Next up, it will start the pendulum swing back to Return to Normalcy.
Which will be Return to Normalcy 4.0
Return to Normalcy 1.0 was Warren Harding.
Return to Normalcy 2.0 was Dwight Eisenhower.
Return to Normalcy 3.0 was Ronald Reagan.

All Republicans, that doesn't bode well for far left identity politics, not at all.

Return to Normalcy is bipartisan, because it is incited by Democrats fleeing the Helter Skelter.
In order to accommodate them, the GOP suspends Nixonian in favor of kinder gentler Warren Eisenhower Reagan

Demographic Doomsday leading to the triumph of the far left, as usual, has been greatly exaggerated.
America has been there before, and the fringe extremists back then were just as wrong, as Speaker to Animals is now. SIFCLFs gonna SIFCLF, who knew?
Kindler Gentler Warren Eisenhower Reagan does not lead to the triumph of the far left, that leads to a triumph of the bipartisan establishment, take notes SIFCLFs. A brand new anti-globalist era where outsiders rule the roost, is merely a figment of the imagination of vocal extremists.

There are few pendulum swings left.

Great Society > Flower Power > Helter Skelter > Reagan Democrats.
Wash, rinse, repeat.

America is trapped in the Vietnam loop, and the nativist know nothings don't get to takeover in that loop, and neither do the George McGoverns of America.
Too bad so sad for the vocal extremists who think the future is vocal extremism, the future and the present is with the silent majority, the extremists didn't beat the silent majority in 2016, they just wish they did. They mistake Trump as a defeat of the silent majority in favor of vocal extremism, instead of a clear victory for the silent majority.

This is called Millerism.
See; William Miller.
The ever impending Puritanical Doomsday.
Since 1833.
Another product of the Second Great Awakening 1790-1820
