The two American families living here are well known.

Typical of Americans, they a Joiners. They participate in every single community activity and are politically active.

They stand out. They are loud and proud Americans, but they embrace the community they are living in.

And they're white. And they have money.

And they are super friendly and polite and their children are well behaved.

So everybody likes them.

They do have Trump Derangement Syndrome tho.

I mostly know the husbands not the wives, but one is a Democrat and the other is a Never Trump.

It’s voodoo man. Those people have lost all rationality and made a full retreat into voodoo realm, where their fear of the bad man is justified because he practices most wicked sorcery.

Was listening to a family member rail for 20 solid minutes about how Trump is a fool and a failure for meeting with Kim Jong Un. How he’s so dumb that he doesn’t realize China pulls their strings and how every other president could see the obvious, but not Trump, that failure of a buffoon.

Once they finished I was like “So is he a bigger failure than the president’s that gave into NKs nuclear blackmail for over 50 years, sending more money and material to prop up that rogue regime which ultimately became a nuclear power anyway? Or less of a failure than that?”

They hung up.

You can’t even talk to these folks ... even if they’re family. They don’t want discussion or debate, they want compliance with their dogma. Anything less requires them to break off contact - like frickin’ cultists.

I meet everybody at the dog beach at the river, that's where I hang out, so the two American guys bring their dogs to the beach and we hang out.

They have no sense of humour about Trump.

I joke around with it, but they do not laugh, they just seethe about it.

Diplomatic relations with neighbors comes first, so I don't push it over the edge.
