Full disclosure: I did the Conspicuous Consumption thing for a dozen years. Wrong value system to take any pleasure from it; actually unpleasurable. I’d rather do the Dollar Menu at Wendy’s, use coupons, and exalt in finding a deal at Goodwill.

Buying everything on discount and simple pleasures is a core tenet of my strategy.

I don't consume conspicuously, although I do like cars, but I jettison other things to pay for that.

I'd rather work towards not being dependent on this rotten system. Figure out how to grow/raise/hunt for you own food. Figure how to live a comfortable life off the grid.

My goal is that, when the left causes the lights to go out and they are all raiding each others suburban homes for food, and killing each other like maniacs, my only indcation will be that MHF is down.

My goal is to essentially live the American Dream, minus the children.

Did it with children. Still doing it. Can’t say if my children are going to be able to though?

Indeed.

I'm not a nurturing type, but even if I was, if I had children I would be condemning them to a post apocalyptic wasteland.

Thus I am simply consuming those resources myself, to live out of the American Dream for me and me only.

Gen X Latchkey Kid. That's been our strategy since the late 70's when our parents all got divorced.

The Millennials are just discovering that there is no future.

They are understandably upset about it and looking to the communists to save them.

I however already priced all this is in, back in the 70's

Saw this coming from a long ways off, maneuvered accordingly to keep my options open.

Thus why it is a fool's errand to try to reason with Eco Bolsheviks.

It's the New World Socialist Revolution.

To save us by authoritarian central planning from the Marxist Malthusian Climate Change Doomsday.

There's no talking them out of it.

They are going to charge the barricades.

That's not going to work tho, so all you can do is carry on with your own plan regardless.

There is one caveat tho.

You can't live until you're eighty.

You'll simply outlive your resources and end up in an old folks ghetto.

Moreover you won't like the future anyways, so it's not worth going that far into it.

There is no future. The future is now. Live fast, die hard.

I have already chosen Martin Hash over Bill Gates. Billy would never allow me to talk shit on his personal forum, so Marty wins.
