In the infantry, the alpha is the Platoon Commander.
Generally a 22 year old kid.
He's just the kid who took charge under pressure on the Platoon Commanders course.
It's not so much that your train them, you put the group under duress.
The the alphas are the ones who take charge without being prompted.

Take the initiative.
Lead from the front.
Sacrifice yourself for your men.
Fight to win.

The Sergeant's job is to set the example.
Follow the alpha.
I'm not the man, he's the man.
Follow him, like I do.

The betas who don't want to be in charge?
That's okay, we need worker bees too.
So long as they go over the top when the whistle blows, all is forgiven.

An alpha would be like seven feet tall and built like a cartoon character. When we left being a pure tournament species the genes for al0has were lost or repressed.California wrote: ↑Sat Apr 27, 2019 9:58 amYou're onto something here. What people consider alphas are what the weak consider "toxic masculinity" or what we consider "healthy males"Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Sat Apr 27, 2019 9:38 amI would emend the statement to: "foster their development into healthy males".
The alpha male act is just another form of pussy chasing, little different from the beta male act (the nice guy, male ally of the wamyns). Deriving your masculinity from female approval is the underlying poison that must be combated.
There is no such thing as an alpha unless you are a gorilla or something. Hominid alphas would be fucking huge.
But then again, think of pro athletes, would their freakish size and athletic ability be considered a hominid alpha
Sexual dimorphism reduced quite a lot as well over the course of the paleolithic.

So they would have no cardio and can't fight? That would be an alpha? I think not. Dudes over 300 pounds can't fight, it is known, they can beat up on small dudes who cant fight and small dudes who can fight if they can get the quick finish, but they cant beat up someone of good size who can fight. 240 pounds is the sweet spot of size and athleticism, and even most heavyweights are unskilled and uncoordinated, there is such a thing as too fucking big.Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Sat Apr 27, 2019 3:13 pmAn alpha would be like seven feet tall and built like a cartoon character. The Chimpanzee alpha's at Gombe in Tanzania has been observed to use their smarts as much as their brawn.
Some Chimpanzee alphas achieve their status by grooming rather than fighting.
There has even been a war over bananas at Gombe, where two chimps formed an alliance to overthrow the alpha.
Organized armies, fighting over the food supply, not the females.
Two smaller chimps took the big chimp down.

Good rundown on this flimflam idea at this site:
https://evolvify.com/alpha-male-mythThere is no good reason to believe that humans evolved in hierarchical tribes between tens of thousands to two million years ago. To the contrary, there is a mountain of evidence showing that humans evolved in largely egalitarian bands that punished attempts of dominance with social sanctioning, banishment, and death (Boehm 1999). Yes, that’s basically saying that alpha males got offed by their social group — not exactly a benefit to reproduction. It appears that human ancestors likely lived in dominance hierarchies sometime in our distant past, but probably prior to the evolution of the hominin (human) line (Boehm 1999; Debreuil 2010). These works indicate that whatever “alpha” dominance tendencies evolved in our remote ancestors has most likely been evolving in the opposite direction for a couple million years. Among related primate ancestors, we see varying levels of dominance hierarchies, but the most recent common ancestor likely dates to 6 million years ago — a very far cry from merely “tens of thousands of years ago.” It must also be noted that as an evolutionary process, these behavioral traits exist on a continuum, and can’t be precisely mapped on a timeline. However, the “tribal” evolution narrative appears to be simply wrong.

It seems intuitive that are human ancestors would be in essentially extended family gangs that more or less were power was distributed fairly equally. You had to be useful and you had to be competent. But yea if you were hurt or sick your fam would help you out as you would do the same.Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Sun Apr 28, 2019 4:38 amGood rundown on this flimflam idea at this site:

The alpha-beta language, while fun, really confuses the truth. Our problem has to do with (1) men deriving self-worth and meaning from female approval, and (2) many therefore behaving like women or betraying other men as part of a misguided mating strategy or attempt to not lose meaning in their lives.
