No, you can buy either type, there is propane model with a tank, and a natural gas model which hooks up to your house.

It's basically just an adapter hose instead of a propane tank.

You can run your whole house on propane btw. You need a large tank. In Texas it lasts very long.

This is the specified natural gas model, I don't use propane tanks, my backup grill down on the patio is charcoal.

Fact is, right now I’m eating cuy (guinea pig) roasted on an open flame, and trout (raw) ceviche, along with a Peruvian dark beer. Can’t wait to get home to some Bud Light and McDonald’s coffee though.

Plus if for any reason the main grill is knocked out of action, the backup grill is low tech redundancy.

Big fan of wood burning tech myself. There are some high tech designs like wood gas and such that I've been meaning to do research on. Unlike diesel, which would require days to gas someone to death, wood gas can do it in minutes.
