Wikileaks serves no purpose but mischief.

I don't feel the need to wipe it out, but I don't feel the need to prop it up neither.
Yeah, I don't have strong feelings on wikileaks one way or the other, but a pox on all fake reformers. If the GOP wants to slaughter that sacred cow, I won't shed any tears.
Oh he's got no friends. It's Obama who was after him, the GOP is just following through.

Wikileaks has burned the Democrats more than anybody, this is why Assange was hiding out in Ecuador.

Until he pissed them off too.
Yeah burned all his bridges, except for a few people who have no ability to help him. He brought this on himself, if you're gonna be a partisan hack, don't piss off partisans on all sides, that's just putting a target on your back.

This too is 1968 all over again

It was the same with the Pentagon Papers.

At first Nixon was ecstatic because it was trashing Kennedy and Johnson.

Then it sunk in that Nixon would be the target next, so that's when he started to crack down.

Yeah, wikileaks is like a much more boring version of the Pentagon Papers.

I think Trump might want to get Assange to testify about the DNC email leak and kill off the Russian collusion narrative once and for all. Offer him immunity on the hacking in exchange for the full story on the DNC "hack" and Seth Rich.

Yeah, okay, sure, that sounds like a realistic scenario.

How is Assange going to kill the Russian collusion narrative once and for all? Why would the Demohacks believe Assange, even if he tried to do that?

Nowhere near worth it for Trump to even entertain that idea, Assange can't clear him. Trump is guilty until proven innocent in the eyes of the Demohacks, and since it's impossible to prove a negative, they will assume Trump is guilty regardless of the outcome, because he can't prove he's innocent.

Indeed, hence why my sarcasm.

The idea that any partisan narrative can ever be killed off is naive to the point of mental illness.

I could tell you were being sarcastic, I just wanted to poke fun at Hastur for being so naive.

If they find no evidence of Trump's guilt, they will just assume they didn't look hard enough, and if they just digged into Trump a little harder, they'd find that smoking gun.

We're still dealing with partisan narratives from Antiquity.

Caligula for example is an "insane tyrant" because he taxed the Senate to pay for public waterworks.

The Romans know, well, at least some of them did, obviously plenty of them were fooled by obvious partisan narratives.
