The Avs have two very similar 2C options to chose from here.

Dach, or Cozens.

Neither is Patty Kane 2.0, but both would be nice fit as a complimentary center.
Not many Patty Kane 2.0's available at fourth overall, so that's to be expected. The Mitch Marner's of the world are a rare breed indeed.
The brutal part is not even getting Kakko.

Kakko would have been a nice consolation prize.

Finishing fourth in two draft lotteries back to back, is ridiculous.

That's worse than Leafs luck.

The loser Loafs have only ever been in one lottery, and they won it.

The Avs have lost two in a row, and not even in the top three. Fourth. Both times.

And they lost to the same team. Both times. NJ took your pick, twice.

And you lost the consolation prize. Twice.

That's beyond belief.

I'm actually stunned.

I thought for sure you would get Kakko if you didn't get Hughes.

Well around 50% of the time, having the best odds at the top pick just results in the fourth overall pick these days. We just lost two coin flips in a row is all, sucks, but not that shocking, just very disappointing.

I guess it bothers me more than it bothers you.

I just put myself in that situation.

It's like the Leafs missing on both Matthews and Marner, back to back.

I would be inconsolable.

I don't even care about the Avs, but I still find it to be upsetting.

And the same team.

Fuckin' New Jersey.

Twice.

Nobody fuckin cares about the shitty Devils franchise.

Except the Hockey Gods apparently.

Diabolical.

Oh I am pissed, but I knew the Avs chances of getting a top 3 pick was less than 51%, so it's not that shocking. But it is super annoying and unfathomably frustrating, we picked a bad time to lose a second coin flip in a row, I tell you what.

And David Puddy. Actual Devils fan in real life.

I am the priest shouting "el diablo!"

I guess Seinfeld has sway with the hockey gods, they even beat the Rangers in that episode, just like the lottery, spooky.

Makes me feel better about the Leafs.

Sure, we're prolly gonna get rinsed by Boston.

And even if not, we're definitely not getting past Tampa.

But at least we don't have to put up with that lottery bullshit.

Too stressful. Once was enough.

The Leafs winning the lottery honestly changed my life.

We got the generational franchise 1C in the draft.

I can sleep at night now.

If we had finished fourth, that would have been so Leafy.

Holy Grail.
Well we did steal MacKinnon from Florida, though Barkov would have been an okay consolation prize. Hopefully they would have drafted Barkov instead of Jones at two, but the Avs might have made the wrong pick and missed out on the franchise 1C.

Sucks to lose two draft lotteries where we had the best chance to win, but the Hockey Gods giveth, and the Hockey Gods taketh away.
