The problem for China is Guam.

But even if they had Tu-160's, is it actually realistic for them to eliminate Guam?

They would just get shot down trying to get there, not enough would get through to put Guam out of action.

Use their navy? Against American SSNs? That would be suicide too.
Listen, dirty dick is running out of TDS doomsday daydreams.

1. the economy is going to collapse when he couldn't that to come true he went

2. Mueller time: well that became a total letdown so now,

3. Chiiiiiiiiiiiiner!
I'm merely considering the matchup.

I find that China lacks the power projection to challenge overtly with military force.

Mind you if they actually follow through with the deal, we'll get to see mo Su-57

The Russians cancelled future production, so China is the lifeline for the program.

The Russians originally had a deal with India, but India dithered.

So now they've offered the Sukhoi to the PLAAF.

As I say, no shift in the balance of power.

None the less, with Chinese money behind the program the Su-57 could be a tight whip.

Unlike the domestic Chinese Chendu J-20 which is a vaporware fake news demonstrator.

I am not so sure we could defeat China in Asia. China could not defeat us in North America, or even the Pacific.

Yeah but America is better at projecting power than China, so apples and oranges. A lot easier for America to beat China, than China to beat America in the Pacific or North America.

The war the Chinese are prepared to fight is Anti-Access Area Denial in the China Seas.

They could challenge freedom of navigation for whatever reason inciting a maritime war.

It's unlikely they would challenge US forces directly at first, more likely would be a war begun with a US proxy.

Japan basically.

Japan is forming an alliance with India as well.

So it could be China v. India and Japan.

Or even China v. India, Vietnam and Japan.

Picking a fight with Japan isn't going to go well for them either. China's ability to wage war is vastly overrated by most people.

It's all about submarines.

There's a submarine arms race.

If they went to war, it would have to be a submarine war.

Arm of Decision.

China only has about twenty or so nuclear powered SSBN/SSGN/SSN's

But they have something like a hundred diesel electric SSK's, which are shorter ranged, but much quieter.

Japan and Korea are building up a large force of state o' the art SSK's.

India is rapidly fielding nuclear powered SSBN/SSN's as well as new SSK's

Vietnam has Russian made SSK's

Whose got the upper hand now, and who do you favor in said submarine arms race going forward?
