Crime is a legal construct.
That which is not illegal, is not a crime.
According to the law at the time, heavily defended industrial targets were fair game.
Not a crime, by both the letter and spirit of the law.

I don't think it was a crime either. My point is that when you are fighting a war like that, who gives a shit what a crime is? Its immaterial. If I lived in California where you can't even tweet anti-trans sentiment, much less defend yourself, and some guy broke into my house and tried to murder me, I'd kill him even if it was a crime by California State law. World Powers break whatever laws suit them and then have the John Yoo types decide after the fact if its acceptable. Wasn't the Iraq war considered by many to be a violation of international law at the time? Fat lot that did. Sure didn't stop the invasion.

But when you are fighting a war like Vietnam, My Lai is a devastating self inflicted defeat.
Like I've told you, the Vietnam War was all about Psyops, My Lai played right into the enemies hands.
The liberal media had a field day, it was a dagger to the heart of the war effort.
The North Vietnamese were not even the enemy.
The academics and associated liberal media were the real enemy.
My Lai was treasonous, because it gave aid and comfort to the enemy.

It's like Tim O'Brien.
The guy who wrote Going After Cacciato.
He was 23rd Americal in Quang Ngai.
They could not understand why Pinkville was so hot.
They had no idea that My Lai had happened.
Nobody knew.
They were walking into a Pinkville hornet's nest, and it was a mystery to them why they were so hated and feared.

What dumbass even decided having the media following the military around was a good idea? Seriously, why would anyone in the executive branch or military be for that dumb shit? That's like letting a pedophile run a daycare center. Retarded as fuck.Smitty-48 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 05, 2019 5:20 pmBut when you are fighting a war like Vietnam, My Lai is a devastating self inflicted defeat.

It was a helicopter pilot who outed My Lai.
The same Army pilot who landed in the middle of it, told his gunners to open fire on the Americans if they didn't stop.
He reported it up the chain of command.
When they didn't do anything about it, he went to the media.

The whole thing was a pysop. The whole war a giant act from beginning to end with the fake play by plays of the embassy being "stormed." They sent the troops out to do pointless patrols to get shot at. If that didn't work they would decrease patrol size until they get shot at. This was official tactics. Using the troops like tied up goats. What did they think would happen? The troops fell for it. Hook line and sinker. They fell victim to the pysop and the whole nation fell victim to the pysop. It was all an orchestrated show with the intended effect of traumatizing an entire generation of Americans and selling them sex drugs and rock and roll.

Didn't have to go that way tho.
Could have just set up in the friendly cities on the coast.
Let the VC have the villes.
Waited for the NVA to make their move.
Arc Light.
Linebacker.
Commando Sabre.
Let them come to you.
Where they would have smashed themselves on the ramparts.

Humans are predictable. It's all just cybernetics. Amazingly programmable. They were expected to act like humans after months of humiliation and despair. It was built into the cake. The intention was never to win the war. The intention was the complete annihilation of the boomers. And it worked. The boomers never boomed. Birth rates plunged. Control of the population through derascinization follows.

Re: What Book Are You Reading at the Moment?
It wasn't preordained.
The Democrat Party vastly overestimated the VC and vastly underestimated the ARVN.
The ARVN did not want to chase the VC.
They did however fight like demons when the VC tried to take the cities.
Thus there was no reason to Search & Destroy.
The only enemy that mattered for America, was the NVA.
The NVA smashed themselves against the ramparts.
If the Democrat Party hadn't racked up so many pointless casualties chasing the VC for the previous four years?
If they had instead just waited for the NVA to make their move, and then let the Air Force do its job?
America would have won.
