There is only one thing which could get me on a plane to Indochina, and that would be Vietnam War battlefields.

But I don't know if the Communists will let you get in to the ones I want to recce.
Pretty sure you can. Vietnam is supposedly a decent place for American ex-pats now. Vietnamese women are aggressive as fuck to bed big Anglo dudes too.

I know Ho Chi Minh City is pretty nice these days.

It's not that, they have security perimeters for UXO.

Like I want to go to LZ X-Ray and Albany at the Chu Pong Massif, but I think they have it sealed off from the public.

My step-dad can't stand being around Vietnamese. I remember one time years ago we went to this Mongolian BBQ restaurant. Except all the employees were apparently Vietnamese and he could stand like about ten minutes of their yapping before he said fuck this we are going to a real BBQ spot.

He can't even turn his back to those little dudes.

Apparently they will arrange tours for Vietnam veterans and my uncle did fight in the Ia Drang.

Thing is, he says he has no desire to see the Ia Drang ever again.

Check out 5:54

Family with young mom sporting an American flag shirt. That's pretty wild.

20 hours on a plane, to get to Cambodia? That's Kafkaesque.
14 hours to Hong Kong...
Then 2.5 to Angkor.

Not too bad.

Watched lots of movies... decent selection.
Slept some... not too much cause you want to be able to sleep when you get there with the time change.
Jet lag was done in a couple of days...
Basically woke up early and got started early.

My uncle was a UH-1 pilot, he says he doesn't remember anything about it except the approach to the LZ, but he never set foot on the ground so the battle itself he mostly followed on the radio.

My dad was a marine. Da Nang, mostly, but he took a lot of photos on their excursions into the countryside.
