When it comes to Kings "might is right" so when the Stuarts couldn't hold on to the throne they lost their "right".
After the battle of Culloden your Jacobites had no more claim to the throne......
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Sure, it was your right to copy the French and become republicans.

Incorrect. The French became the French equivalent of democrats. Hence the Reign of Terror.

It was the other way round, the American Revolution incited the French Revolution, in two ways, one was obviously inspiration, Bourbon assisted the Americans to overthrow their Crown, showing that it was in fact viable to do so, and secondarily, had also spent so much money fighting the British, that they had essentially gone broke doing it.

I should really read a bit more about that period, It's a bit of a gap in my knowledge.
