I do not think Communism is a viable economic system. Nonetheless, it is weird how long China has held on. Its been close to 30 years since the USSR collapsed, and China has not really made any serious political concessions. If anything, they are getting more repressive atm. Why do you think they held out longer than the Russians? Is their leadership more competent? Do you see that regime falling in our lifetimes?

It is propped up by US dollars just as the Soviet Union was propped up by US dollars.heydaralon wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2019 2:16 pmI do not think Communism is a viable economic system. The Chinese do not control their own destiny anymore than the Soviets did.
The Chinese just have more IOU's to spend in the American Hegenomy, so they can afford to buy more than grain, which is all the Soviets could afford, because the Soviets just had lots of oil, which isn't actually expensive.

If the Chinese Communist party collapsed, do you see China splitting up into multiple countries? The Uighurs doing their own thing, Tibet breaking off etc?Smitty-48 wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2019 2:18 pmIt is propped up by US dollars just as the Soviet Union was propped up by US dollars.heydaralon wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2019 2:16 pmI do not think Communism is a viable economic system. Like the Soviets, they will lose some satellites in the near abroad, but the Han majority will hang together in the Middle Kingdom.heydaralon wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2019 2:22 pmIf the Chinese Communist party collapsed, do you see China splitting up into multiple countries? It's just as you say, Cold War Two will go the way Cold War One went, it's just right at the closing stages you have to be ready with the overwhelming counterforce option, in case it is not Mikhail Gorbachev and Kumbaya twice in a row.

Man, I really get too wrapped up in the stupid shit that I can't fix. Chinks are my climate change. I really hate the shit out of China and wish to hell they'd accidentally nuke themselves. Any time I see that evil commie shithole on the news I get angry. I really hope they collapse in my lifetime, and the US stands over their grave.

The Chinese are not that scary, they've got a long way to go to catch up to America, but America is not standing still, America just keeps going faster and faster into the future and the Chinese central planners can never close the gap with the market driven decentralized innovation.heydaralon wrote: ↑Mon Mar 25, 2019 2:38 pmMan, I really get too wrapped up in the stupid shit that I can't fix.
