Agree that the Arya/Hound time together was solid stuff. The developed mutual respect despite hating each other was well thought out, directed & acted.

She's great and I liked her the first time around. But committing to watching it all a second time is too much to ask.

There is a huge space now open for both historical fiction and fantasy in the tv world. Amazon or HBO need to zero in on a few gems waiting to be made. The Cortes miniseries will be awesome or should be. A saga based off a distant mirror would be real cool if done halfway right . Plague and war .it be like the movie road but only real.

Without a doubt it will all be derivative crap. I don't know how many of you are even old enough to remember all the crap SF movies & TV that came out after the success of Star Wars. Besides, it's been 8 years, and nothing stellar and novel has come out in the historical line. We had stuff like The Tudors, Rome & Spartacus before GoT. Spartacus was actually pretty good once you got past the over the top sex and gore.

I guess top of the list of books I'd like to get the treatment would be Gary Jennings' Aztec. That's a world that would be visually fascinating to recreate, with plenty of plot.

Spartacus has lots of male nudity so even though the plot is multifaceted and deep in symbolism and allegory the naked well-muscled men force you to keep watching. Spartacus is a lot like Twin Peaks. Most folks couldn't grasp what the director was going for...

Interesting that you seem to have noticed only the naked men and not the plentiful naked women. The bathmaids were my favorite. Remember the scene of Batiatus banging one in the ass for his wife's entertainment? Who knew Zena could get so, so dirty?

Spartacus was too white and not enough butt sex. Not even one tranny in the whole show either.

I think they accurately reasoned that America was not ready for a historically accurate amount of nonwhites and butt sex in Rome. They say Caesar's tastes ran that way too. Cleopatra was some dark meat according to some, though I say she was Greek. Sorry you were so disappointed!

The Wire is without a doubt the best show of all time had an at least 75% black cast. Was America ready for that? I don't think race factors into what we are talking about. If anything, shows that overplay social justice themes get more praise than they should. Example, Game of Thrones.
