Jokes are used in this very thread to dismiss veganism, an incredibly important issue.

As far as I can tell your whole argument is that meat eaters have the same values as you and because those values are correct, they therefore contradict themselves.

If your values are ethics, life, the environment, health, the future of humanity, then veganism should align with your values. You're right, I make an assumption that most people have these values.

Animal agriculture is the leading cause of:

deforestation,
desertification,
ocean dead-zones,
species extinction,
water pollution,
top soil erosion
habitat destruction,
water use,

If these things don't matter to a person, then that person is a fool.

But I find that people do care, particularly in a face to face setting, not online where they can hide behind insults and jokes.

Most people are simply not told the truth, instead they’re indoctrinated since birth to believe meat is necessary, and are never told the true costs of it.

What ethics are you talking about? Is eating meat inherently wrong? Or do you just disapprove because in the long run it makes life for meat eating humans worse?

Regarding the edit: You're wrong. Talk to people outside of first world countries. They'll raise animals and then slaughter them without a second thought. You're living in a fantasy.
