Smitty's last post was Feb 25th, should we put his face on a milk carton?

Just saying, he's way too good not to be on a top line, but way too small and not two way grindy enough to center that line

Hughes is like the size of Nic Petan, Hughes is tiny.

You can't have a guy that size checking Matthews or whoever, unless he's Brayden Point, but just because somebody is small, that doesn't make them Brayden Point, Brayden Point is a huge specific to general fallacy.

He might not play center, it's a distinct possibility, but you seem overly sure of it.

I just don't see a coach wanting him at center, I see a coach putting him in the Patty Kane role, because that is what Hughes is like.

Well, I don't see him playing center right out the gate, but maybe eventually, he could turn into one.

He will not produce points at center like he will from the half boards, and he's not a defensive whiz, so I don't see coaches trying to jam a Patty Kane peg into a Brayden Point hole when Hughes is not a Point.

I mean, Marner could play center now, but he's not made to go in front, he's not going to generate much offense like that, that is Matthews' thing, Marner is better from the wing, he makes the line better when he's free to roam about.

If a coach has a player like Kane, or Marner, that coach wants points, lots of points, sending the little guy into the crease kind of neutralizes that, he's tied up when he should be dancing.

Brayden Point is a pitbull, but he's the exception not the rule.

Here is recent film of Hughes, you can see the size of the kids he is playing against, they are literally kids and not even big ones, and yet even here he gets pushed around quite a bit soon as anybody makes contact.

Very similar to Marner tho, when he has the puck, carries it up the ice and distributes it like Marner, dances and shoots like Patty Kane.

I'm finding this Leaf swoon to be strangely satisfying.

It's like, this is not working, there's talent, but the system is not working.

Basically Dubas is building one type of team, and Babcock is trying to coach it like it's a different kind of team.

Babcock is not on board with Dubas.

Something's got to give.

Too late to fix it now, I mean in the off season.

Dubas is going to have to assert himself, even if he has to fire Babcock.

Which, if the Loafs completely melt down here, Babcock will surely be on the bubble.
