Even in Recce Platoon, where you are on your own away from the chain of command, still have to shave for the respirator seal, and that's always cold shave, can't light a stove on patrol.
Yeah you can't get a proper seal on respirators.
Bingo. Maybe for COIN you can get away with it, but once you go back to state on state war, all them SOF beards gotta come off.

I thought a goatee is Ok with respirators, I had a friend who had a goatee in the early 80's when it wasn't exactly hip because he worked as a chemist in a nuke plant and had to wear a respirator. My only regret of the beard is I can't snorkel on vacation.
We are only accustomed to dealing with like twenty online personas at a time so when we only have about ten people some people have to be strawmanned in order to advance our same relative go nowhere nonsense positions. -TheReal_ND

Even if there isn't a CBRN attack, still want the option to mask up, cause there can be a lot of hazmat floating in the air of a conventional battlefield which you ain't gonna want to be inhaling.

Last time I fully shaved it was for my first day at my new job with the city. Chopped the beard that was halfway down my chest. Walked in the first day and the first thing my boss says:

"Where's the beard?"

Freakin military conditioned me to chop it for gov jobs. It's going to take about another two years to get it back down where it was before this.

Same with me, beard mode is recreation mode, work mode is clean shaven, professional.

Beard doesn't go with a suit and tie, when I suit up, I go James Bond mode.

I'm actually going to a stag this coming weekend and it's gonna be VIP lounge, so we are all suiting up like high rollers, so I'm gonna have the barber take the beard off, because I'm going in full James Bond mode, tailored three piece.
