I want it so that only people with 3 Doctorates are aristocrats, and everyone else kowtows to us.

You only need one Dr Hash, but it needs to be from an Ivy League School. Gotta be blessed by the Ivy League to be an aristocrat in the US, unwritten law.

The only other route is to get Fuck You money and work with the government like Zuckerberg and the rest.

The reality is that a true empire is based around a warrior class. Your degrees wouldn't amount to as much in the power structure as you'd like. You need a democracy for that stuff to matter. Same with merchant creds. All that stuff is supported by a military in such a way that the military protects the political garden inside the national borders, but doesn't get involved in it.

The problem with it is that people get it in their heads that they did all this without the warrior class and indeed hold the very people carrying their water in contempt. Eventually that goes too far and the warrior class takes over. This happened before. It's going to happen again.

It's not really imagination. It's literally how aristocracies start: the warrior class takes over. That's all it is..

Later on down the line, it starts to corrupt no differently than democracy. That's how the British Empire fell apart. Germany too. The aristocracy became more about buying privilege and almost nothing about fighting.

The beginning of the end happened at Concord. The last of the aristocracy as a meaningful force died in the fruitless battles of WW1, because the officer corps of the European armies were completely rotted by ineptitude and privilege.

But the way it starts: civilization either collapses or becomes so rotten that the military takes over. Every time. Then when the military becomes completely rotten and corrupt, insurgencies take over and you get some form of democracy. Repeat.

The only real defense you have against a military take over is veterans taking a stand against it. But if the veterans join the side of the Army, you are pretty damned well fucked.

Venezuela is your case in point. People voted for the other guy. That did no good because the Army backed Maduro. The only way to take down Maduro is to split the Army to build a capable opposition.
