Currently skipping through the episodes in anticipation of 4/19. (Mid season 2 right now, going through each episode in about 25 minutes.)

Came in just to suggest Tyrion as the best fictional character ever. He at least deserves a spot on the ballot.

Sgt. Dude in Full Metal Jacket was great.

Gunnery Sergeant Hartman played by Marine Corps veteran R. Lee Ermey, basically playing himself.

Directed by Kurbrick, who is my favorite director.

Tho I loves me some Full Metal, it's down the list in terms of my favorite Kubrick.

In terms of Vietnam movies it is third behind Apocalypse Now Redux and Platoon.

Fun fact, the entire movie was shot on a back lot in England, the palm trees are all props.

The guy I do film and TV catering with did the food on FMJ.
Kubrick would sneak crispy bacon out the back of the kitchen and eat it in secret.

I saw Kubrick at a friend's wedding. Her parents were neighbors of his in Bovingdon.

Do you like Bronson films like Death Wish? Does that hold up for someone that didn't see it back then or has no nostalgic attachment to it etc?

Haven't seen any Bronson in a while. But I believe they hold up. He's the Liam Nissam of the 70s. His films are like Taken, brutal revenge mostly.

He plays an Army Major that gets captured in Battle of the Bulge, does a pretty good job with the role. Critics hated him til he was dead. Ask Fife, I think he's the real Bronson expert on the site.
