Lockheed Martin has other things in store for Mr. Ivan, Aegis Afloat and Ashore BMD with INF counterforce option.

Right away, he brings up, the RAND corporation, zerohedge SIFCLFs are so predictable, even when you call them out in advance, they still step on that rake anyway.

Indeed, Mr Ivan has nukes, he can pick on the Russian near abroad, but he doesn't stand a chance against NATO head to head in the conventional spectrum.
Now Mother Jones is going to dig into his Zerohedge talking points, and tell us about how Russia and China are taking over and America is doomed any day naow.
Next will come the Rand corporation report "ZOMG, can't climb, can run, can't fight" or some such Winslow Wheeler rehashed shit from 20 years ago.

This is the actual problem we face (not the Lockmart marketing woo woo):
The Rand Corporation’s Pacific Vision wargame simulating a conflict with China in 2008 found that even in a favorable scenario for the United States—half of U.S. missiles hit at long range and the none of their opponent’s do—a force of U.S. fighters outnumbered roughly three to one would be overwhelmed after firing off all its missiles. The less-maneuverable F-35s fared poorly in the ensuing dogfight. But in the end, nearly all of the U.S. fighters were lost.
https://news.yahoo.com/world-war-ii-say ... 00167.html

Every time RAND war games this shit out we lose. The reliance on stealth fighters will cost us. We are better off with F-22 as our air superiority fighter and a lot of F-15X as support, especially to provide a continuous supply of missiles to the F-22.

The F-35 in particular is overwhelmingly dependent upon tankers to refuel. Tankers are fucking trivial to shoot down. This is a huge problem for the F-35. It's not going to do you any good if you literally cannot even fly it to where it is needed.

Just consider the problems of relying on stealthy aircraft with limited armament loads that cost so much money to purchase and fly that you only have a few wings worth of them. That means at any given time, if your enemy can fly more aircraft than you have missiles, you fucking lose.

That is the problem ^^^

Stealth by itself cannot win a war unless you somehow figure out how to make stealth tankers.

Stealth aircraft in general have poor range. Range is one of the most important factors in any fighter aircraft. One of the reasons the Germans couldn't fuck with England is the poor range of their fighters. Even with the poor armament loads on a Spitfire, they still could just keep landing and reloading, whereas the Germans had no such luxury over England and the channel.

You could very well need the range to at least get across the pond to England from North America in a serious engagement. Shipping likely would become impossible due to Russian submarines and their supercavetating torpedoes (which, armed with nukes, could wipe out a carrier group no problem).

The problem for America is that we are a sea power, which means we are forced to project air power globally. You can't fucking do that if all your tankers are shot down and your F-35 can only fly like 200 nm.

I am the only person in this thread that has any experience at this. I belonged to a fighter squadron, cupcake.

I don't lecture Smitty on infantry bullshit. It's hilarious that he is throwing this marketing slogan bullshit at me and expecting it to suffice.

There exist very real problems with these airframes that have to be addressed. Just constantly throwing more slogans at me and shaking your heads no doesn't win the argument.

F-35 has poor survivability. It has insufficient range. It has insufficient armament. It's not an acceptable airframe for the USAF. Maybe for the Marines or Navy is works out, but it sucks for the Air Force.
